In the 1950’s the Air Force defined them as “any airborne object which by performance, aerodynamic characteristics, or unusual features does not conform to any presently known aircraft or missile type, or which cannot be positively identified as a familiar object.” There is no implication of origin inherent in the meaning of the word “UFO.” It simply means “unidentified.” www.freedomofinfo.org .
