Atlanta Law Firm Hosts Future Emory Law Students

Atlanta Law Firm Hosts Future Emory Law Students

Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) April 05, 2012

Atlanta-based law firm Schklar & Heim, LLC hosted Emory University School of Law’s reception for admitted applicants on March 30, 2012. The Friday evening cookout kicked off the law school’s visiting weekend, during which the future members of the Class of 2015 gathered together in Atlanta, Georgia to get to know Emory Law. The reception was held at the home of Schklar & Heim attorneys Edwin J. Schklar and Maggie M. Heim, and gave admitted applicants the opportunity to meet each other and talk to several Emory Law alumni and faculty in a relaxed setting.

After Friday evening’s reception, the admitted applicants met at the law school on Saturday for a full day of learning about law school basics, professional development, career strategy, financing their educations, and living in Atlanta. They also received a tour of the school and participated in question and answer sessions with law professors, deans, and alumni.

Schklar & Heim Founder, Edwin J. Schklar, who earned his J.D. and M.B.A. from Emory University, explained that it was a pleasure to host the event. “Emory University gave me an excellent foundation for my law career, and I am happy to assist in the law school’s continued success. I enjoyed answering questions from students and explaining why I chose to attend Emory and establish a career in Atlanta after serving as a trial attorney in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps at the Military District of Washington.”

The visiting weekend also gave admitted applicants the opportunity to experience Emory University and see the city of Atlanta. Some of the students who have already decided to attend Emory Law next year utilized the weekend to meet professors and other students, and to make arrangements for the next three or four years of their lives. Other admitted applicants, who are not yet certain of which school they will attend, used their time in Atlanta to determine whether Emory Law is the right school for them.

The cookout was an enormous success with approximately 150 people in attendance. Those who attended participated in great conversation and savored a warm, beautiful spring evening in Atlanta. Attorney Maggie M. Heim explained, “The prospective students were eager to learn about the quality of life and business and legal opportunities Atlanta has to offer. Our guests on Friday evening were quite diverse. Each of their career interests varied greatly, which contributed to conversations on a variety of legal and non-legal topics. I am pleased that the event proceeded so smoothly and that everyone seemed to have a great time. I wish the students success in their future legal careers.”

New Rules – Season 3 (part 2)

Obama decries Internet shut-down in Egypt while his own administration prepares to enact same draconian powers to crush dissent during times of political upheaval in America. Kill Switch: Obama Administration Fears Egypt-Style Revolt In US Paul Joseph Watson www.infowars.com www.prisonplanet.tv January 31, 2011 The Obama administration is busy attempting to pass legislation that would give the President a kill switch for the Internet in the United States while at the same time decrying Egyptian authorities for shutting down the Internet in a bid to deflate the unfolding revolution against Hosni Mubarak. The reason is simple — the government fears an Egypt-style revolt occurring in the US and wants to block access to the world wide web if and when it happens. Chicago radio host and occasional Alex Jones Show guest Mancow Muller called it right during an appearance on Mike Huckabee’s show this weekend. “It’s in all the newspapers, ‘Ohblahblah’, we’ve got to free up Twitter, we’ve got to free up the Internet and Facebook for these poor Egyptians — this is the President that let Wikileaks and all of this stuff happen,” said Mancow. “They create the problems and we react to fear — the the four letter f-word that controls the masses and they offer the solution, “they” being the government. This is the President that wants the kill switch for the Internet….he wants a kill switch.” “They fear….social networking, Twitter, Facebook, all of this stuff, but oh, no, we must have

John Steinbeck – Nobel Prize Speech

John Steinbeck’s speech at the Nobel Banquet at the City Hall in Stockholm, December 10, 1962 “Literature was not promulgated by a pale and emasculated critical priesthood singing their litanies in empty churches – nor is it a game for the cloistered elect, the tinhorn mendicants of low calorie despair. Literature is as old as speech. It grew out of human need for it, and it has not changed except to become more needed.” “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires” “Our species is the only creative species, and it has only one creative instrument, the individual mind and spirit of a man. Nothing was ever created by two men. There are no good collaborations, whether in art, in music, in poetry, in mathematics, in philosophy. Once the miracle of creation has taken place, the group can build and extend it, but the group never invents anything. The preciousness lies in the lonely mind of a man. And now the forces marshaled around the concept of the group have declared a war of extermination on that preciousness, the mind of man. By disparagement, by starvation, by repressions, forced direction, and the stunning blows of conditioning, the free, roving mind is being pursued, roped, blunted, drugged. It is a sad suicidal course our species seems to have taken. And this I believe: that the free, exploring mind of the individual human is the most valuable thing in all the world

The British Military on UFOs – Nick Pope with Major Milton Torres (USAF, ret.) LIVE

Nick Pope worked at the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense. He’s undertaken a series of jobs within the Department, including work in the Joint Operations Centre during the Gulf War, where he was a briefer in the Air Force Operations Room. He was involved in work on the crises in Bosnia and Kosovo. He was a Senior Executive Officer, which is a civilian grade equivalent to the military rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He left the employ of the MoD in 2006 and now does private research. Between 1991 and 1994, Nick was posted to a division called Secretariat (Air Staff) and given the job of researching and investigating the UFO phenomenon, mirroring the work done in the US by the Air Force’s Project Blue Book in the 1960’s. Although many of the cases could be explained as misidentifications of known objects and phenomena, a hard core of sightings defied any conventional explanation. Strong evidence emerged suggesting the presence of structured craft capable of speeds and maneuvers beyond the capability of even the most advanced prototype craft operated by the Royal Air Force or the United States Air Force. Nick Pope’s unique access to new data and previous government files convinced him the UFO phenomenon raised serious defense and national security issues. There were numerous instances where UFOs had been tracked on radar, leading to jets being scrambled. There were also cases with terrifying near-misses between UFOs and civilian aircraft. All this led him to believe that an

So you are ready to respond to questions from viewers of euronews?” Serge Brammertz: “Hello” Alex Taylor: “First question on I-talk to Serge Brammertz.” “Hello, my name is Miriam. I’m from Belgium. Do you have the legal right to judge all criminals throughout the world? Who has the power to ask you to intervene?” Serge Brammertz: “Yes the Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia has jurisdiction limited to the territories of the countries of the former Yugoslavia. The Tribunal was established in 1993 by the Security Council to prosecute and try those responsible for crimes of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the territories of the former Yugoslavia.” Alex Taylor: “Who can ask you to intervene an individual, a State?” Serge Brammertz: “No, actually, as this court is an offshoot of the Security Council, theoretically, there is an obligation for all UN member countries to cooperate with our Tribunal, but at the point of referral. How come America is a country promoting Freedom of Religion?

Question by Gemini: How come America is a country promoting Freedom of Religion?
First, Christianity is so dominant. Anyone believing in other religion feels very marginalized.
Second, the government officially promotes Christianity. Even though the government does not say this is our official religion, they have the idea that people believing in christianity have higher moral values. Even the dollars say “in god we trust”.
In all cases, people who don’t believe in Christianity are very much discriminated. Do you agree??

Na, people need to grow up and be who they are and quit being afraid of what other people may think about their religion.
