Q&A: What sort of national security briefings do former U.S. presidents receive?

Question by Abby Normal: What sort of national security briefings do former U.S. presidents receive?
I seem to recall reading somewhere that all former presidents still receive national security briefings.

I can’t imagine that they would receive briefings as in-depth as the current president does. Do former presidents just receive the very basics or what?

Does a president just out of office, such as Bush, receive a more in-depth briefing than one long out of office, such as Jimmy Carter or the first Bush?

Thanks!

NDAA- The final deadly blow to American Liberties & Freedom

When I first heard about the possibilities of this National Defense Authorization Act almost a year ago, I dismissed it because it is so extreme and so devastating to every American. I could not believe that our own Government would do it to their own people, here in America. Now, the worst nightmare has come true. The (NDAA) National Defense Authorization Act has been approved and days away from becoming law. This is the same power the history’s worst dictators used to slaughter millions of their own people. If the American People allow this, they will be buying their own jail cells or FEMA concentration camps. No Government, or Dictator would ever want this power if they did not have something planned to do with it. It just doesn’t make any sense. People need to wake up fast Obama does what he does best, destroy American Freedom and stuff the pockets of his masters with over Trillion. About the NDAA The Senate has passed the National Defense Authorization Act, a bill that will give US military control over the US streets bringing the battlefield to the United States , arrest American citizens without due process and herd them of to detention centers anywhere in the world. The provision was hashed out in secret by Senators Carl Levin and John McCain. Lindsay Graham, a supporter of the bill, explained that it would, “basically say in law for the first time that the homeland is part of the battlefield” and people can be imprisoned without charge or trial “American

SPIE Defense, Security and Sensing move to Baltimore gains Congressional participation

SPIE Defense, Security, and Sensing is moving to Baltimore this year. The event attracts top speakers and large audiences, such as this crowd of nearly 1,000 at last year’s plenary talk.

Bellingham, Washington, USA (PRWEB) April 13, 2012

Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-Maryland) will participate in the opening ceremony for the SPIE Defense, Security, and Sensing exhibition when the event makes its Baltimore debut this month.

After many successful years in Orlando, the world’s largest unclassified conference and exhibition for defense, homeland security, and sensing applications is moving to the Baltimore Convention Center. The move is expected to allow for more participation on the part of researchers and managers at a large number of key government labs and companies.

SPIE Defense, Security, and Sensing includes a week-long technical program with more than 2,400 presentations on new technology and social media applications in reconnaissance, surveillance, imaging, and sensing. Conference dates are 23-27 April.

More than 540 companies and agencies will participate in the 3-day exhibition, running 24-26 April. Companies include large prime contractors, established suppliers, and dynamic start-ups providing optics, lasers, sensors, image processing, spectroscopy, infrared systems, and optoelectronics components.

Bartlett will attend the exhibition opening on 24 April at 10 a.m. A longtime supporter of defense R&D, he recently collaborated with California Democrat Rep. Loretta Sanchez to create a new Defense R&D Caucus that will serve as a forum for Pentagon-funded research conducted by industry, universities and the national lab, his office noted.

Other highlights of the SPIE Defense, Security, and Sensing meeting include:

new conferences on cyber sensing and full-motion video workflows and technologies for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and situational awareness
sessions on sensing applications in food safety and disaster monitoring as well as lasers for guidance and communications
a featured talk by Bruce Carlson, Director of the National Reconnaissance Office on transforming defense R&D to meet 21st century challenges
a featured talk by Paul Kaminski of Technovation, recent winner of the National Reconnaissance Office Pioneer Award
product launches and demonstrations, including a display of unmanned aerial vehicle technology
technical and industry panel discussions on topics such as social and cultural modeling applications for information fusion, geospatial information fusion in activity-based intelligence analysis, government funding, and early-stage technology commercialization.

Symposium chair is Kevin Meiners, Acting Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Portfolio, Programs and Resources. Kenneth Israel, Lockheed Martin Corp., is symposium co-chair.

See the event website at http://spie.org/dss.

Army Post Jobs for FEMA Camps, DHS Shuts Down Blog & More: Infowars Nightly News

In other news, another unsettling sign post has cropped up in the wake of the Senate’s passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), as the Army has now reportedly designated a special prison guard unit for securing ‘civilian detainees.’ A similar job posting was advertised under the National Guard in 2009, which Infowars reported on at the time. Only days ago, leaked documents from inside KBR, a Halliburton subsidiary, announced the activation of FEMA camps, with calls to staff a wide array of services inside the temporary emergency facilities. Nationwide Utility Industry Credit Union Steps Up Its Virtual Business Model

Nationwide Utility Industry Credit Union Steps Up Its Virtual Business Model

Utilities Employees Credit Union will unveil new mobile and home banking platforms powered by Jwaala, later this year.

Wyomissing, PA (PRWEB) April 12, 2012

The credit union that serves 45,000 members and 600 companies in the nation’s utility and energy sector has announced it will offer mobile banking and expand its online services later this year. Utilities Employees Credit Union (UECU) recently signed a contract with the Jwaala software company to take its suite of convenient financial “E-services” to a new level.

“UECU has always been a ‘virtual credit union’ serving a widely-dispersed membership,” says Glen A. Yeager, UECU President and Chief Executive Officer. “The upgraded online and mobile banking platforms will further empower our members and simplify management of their finances.”

Providing high-quality, nationwide account access to its member customers has long been a priority for UECU. For more than 75 years, UECU has operated without a branch system, initially handling its long-distance transactions by mail and electronic fund networks until they added around-the-clock phone banking and then online banking, in 1994 and 2001. Its virtual business model allows UECU to provide financial benefits to companies and employees in the utility and energy industry wherever they expand or relocate throughout the nation.

UECU saw an opportunity to further enhance and personalize their members’ online banking experience while adding even greater customer security, by upgrading to a system offered by the Austin based company, Jwaala. The credit union will add mobile banking and combine the free online services it currently offers – including online banking, phone line banking, online bill pay, account E-Notifications, remote check deposit, account E-Statements, internal as well as external fund transfers, and online loan applications – into a new banking platform that can be personally tailored by each member.

“The enhanced system will be more intuitive to use and individuals will be able to customize their own dashboards,” says Yeager. “At log-in, they can immediately view the information deemed most important to managing their finances on a single screen.”

The UECU organization will roll out the new platform later this year and is now planning ahead to provide members with an easy transition and to educate them about new online features. UECU members will receive added personal finance tools to track transactions, establish budgets and goals, and securely store personal documents like their receipts. Users will now be able to categorize, search, sort, and graph their financial information and account transactions. UECU will also enhance online opportunities for families to manage their financial accounts together.
