“CONSERVATIVES – believe in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values and a strong national defense. Believe the role of government should be to provide people the freedom necessary to pursue their own goals.
Conservative policies generally emphasize empowerment of the individual to solve problems.
LIBERALS – believe in governmental action to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all, and that it is the duty of the State to alleviate social ills and to protect civil liberties and individual and human rights. Believe the role of the government should be to guarantee that no one is in need. Believe that people are basically good.
Liberal policies generally emphasize the need for the government to solve people’s problems.”

I love how liberals want government intervention when it comes to money, yet they don’t when it comes to things like gay marriage and abortion. How convenient…

Today’s Republicans believe in large spendings and big governments. It was so under Bush anyway. I hope they return to their roots.

there is a BIG flaw with liberal policies though
they think that it is the government gives each of us our rights when if fact our rights were given to us by God and the government has no right to give them or take them away.
We are all of equal value in Gods eyes.
and no I do not have a conservative agenda!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a pretty fair minded answer. I disagree that liberals think people are basically good. They don’t believe in good or evil or right or wrong.
They view people as products of their heredity and their environment who therefore cannot be held responsible for their actions. This is why they don’t want to punish criminals and think everyone can be taught to be nice. Liberals think people do the wrong thing because they don’t know any better. Conservatives think they do the wrong thing because they do know better.
But I can see why you might translate that into “believing people are basically good.”

History has not proven anything like that…
Hoover’s (conservative) policy didn’t work (i.e. Hoovervilles, Hoover blankets, general poor economy), so then we elected FDR (liberal)
That’s one big example
Bush (conservative) failed to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, so people are still suffering and are still homeless.
Conservative policy during the last eight years has not worked: 9/11, Iraq War, new recession
Conservatives also believe in trickle-down economics, which means that if you provide tax cuts and money to big business or the rich, they will then invest that money and give back to the community (trickle down to the poorer classes).
I’m not bashing Conservatives, but please don’t bash liberals.
If you need more failed Conservative policies I can send them to you, but I think those are the best examples off the top of my head.
Reagan and Bush have created the biggest deficits in history, but Bush is by far the worst.
Bush has created the largest deficit in history: it can encompass the deficits of his predecessors and more.
And if you need to insult liberals further, note that most of the worst presidents in history (lowest rated) were Conservative: George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Richard Nixon, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Warren Harding, etc.
There are more, but I am becoming biased. Anyway, there is much more to the two groups than that, so do your research and stay away from anything extremist.
