I think there are far too many restrictions on speech the way it is. As far as freedom of religion, as long as no one else is hurt, religious practices should be legal.

  • they do limit our rights just not in a direct out spoken way society conforms people by making it so if you don’t fit in you stand out and if you stand out then its harder for you in life like yes you can do what ever you want to do but think there is always consequences for our actions like jail time and other punishments so there for we all end up conforming or going to jail.

  • Freedom of speech? Yes. You shouldn’t yell fire in a crowded theater, you shouldn’t be able to slander someone, etc. There’s plenty of good reasons for speech to not be 100% legally free.

Freedom of religion? It depends on what you mean. I think anyone should be able to personally believe whatever they want, but if it goes against logic and common sense, then there should be limits.

For example, I could create a religion that says killing people randomly is ok and the way to spiritual enlightenment, but that doesn’t mean it should be protected under the law under “freedom of religious expression”

  • Yes, I think their should be limitations on the freedom of speech, which has hateful connotations in relation to religion.

  • There are already limitations on both. Generally speaking, if speech or the practicing of religion is deemed to be detrimental to individuals or society, then it is not protected. Inciting a riot is not considered free speech. Likewise, preaching to a congregation that they should commit violent acts in the name of their religion is also not protected. Other than those kind of extreme examples, the first amendment should be respected and protected.
