DADT is a threat to our national security?

Question by : DADT is a threat to our national security?
Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy forces gay men to serve their country in secret. If this secret is discovered, they are kicked out of the military. But having a secret is a bad thing because a foreign spy can easily blackmail such a person. On the other hand, if gay men served openly, no one could blackmail them. So DADT is hurting our national security. Do you agree?

some people might say that it’s not DADT that hurts our national security but the gay men who do.

  • You make a good point.

I can’t even imagine what it would be like keeping a secret about something you can’t change or help.
What if the policy was DADT about being Caucasian? We can’t ask you if you’re Caucasian and don’t tell us or you’ll get kicked out.
It wouldn’t feel so great being told that you’re essentially worth less than everyone else over something you were born being.
Sometimes keeping a secret is just the same thing as telling a lie.

  • I’m going to assume that the “people” that “mi18” is referencing are as clueless as he/she is. What kind of moronic response was that?

As a proud gay male in the United States Navy I can guarantee you that we do the exact same things that the straight men do without any special treatment or any different results.

I strongly agree with Nail’s point of view. D.A.D.T. can potentially damage our National Security and I feel that it should be repealed.
