I would examine this quote from Benjamin Franklin

‘Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

he was a pretty smart guy : )

I think you have to decide if you want your country to be Run on the basis of fear of supposed evil ? Also if civil liberties are eroded what differences will there be left between the west and the areas we are meant to be be bringing the ‘light’ of democracy to ?

What do you think? Answer below!

ADF Attorneys Seek to Dismiss Lawsuit Against National Day of Prayer

Madison, WI (PRWEB) March 13, 2009

Alliance Defense Fund attorneys asked a federal court Monday to throw out a lawsuit that claims government-issued proclamations which call on citizens to pray are unconstitutional. The motion to dismiss — the second filed by ADF attorneys — comes in response to an amended complaint filed in the lawsuit by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

“Prayer proclamations are a long-established and cherished American tradition going back to the Founding Fathers,” said ADF Senior Legal Counsel Joel Oster. “This is simply a ridiculous lawsuit and an example of one radical organization’s allergic reaction to anything involving God.”

The Freedom From Religion Foundation filed its suit against a number of government officials, including now-former President George W. Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle. The suit also names National Day of Prayer Task Force Chairperson Shirley Dobson, who is being represented by ADF attorneys.

Last year, ADF attorneys sent an information letter to nearly 1,200 of America’s largest cities, advising them of their constitutional right to religious freedom and to recognize and participate in the National Day of Prayer.

The 58th National Day of Prayer, which occurs May 7, offers an opportunity for thousands of Americans to exercise their religious rights and unite in prayer for the country at a variety of events nationwide. In 1775, the Continental Congress called upon people to pray for God’s wisdom in forming a nation. In 1952, President Harry S. Truman established an annual National Day of Prayer via a joint resolution of Congress. The law was amended in 1988 to set the day as the first Thursday of May.

Those wishing to support the effort to defend the National Day of Prayer and protect their First Amendment right to religious liberty can visit http://www.savethendop.org .

Motion to dismiss filed in Freedom From Religion Foundation v. Obama with the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin (Case No. 08-CV-588).

ADF is a legal alliance of Christian attorneys and like-minded organizations defending the right of people to freely live out their faith. Launched in 1994, ADF employs a unique combination of strategy, training, funding, and litigation to protect and preserve religious liberty, the sanctity of life, marriage, and the family.

Q&A: Does the ban on gay marriage go against the separation of church & state?

Question by Kage Nara: Does the ban on gay marriage go against the separation of church & state?
I believe that this does, I have yet to see an opponet of gay marriage who is not against it because of their particular religious beliefs, this goes agains the supposed law of “seperation of church and state”

Can anyone give a (reasonable) reason for the ban on gay marriage that is not based on their own or someone else’s religous beliefs. I will listen to it if you can, but I do not see this happening.

Hindu Rashtra is against Constitution: Judge

Mumbai – It is one thing to form a Hindu Organisation and quite another to speak of forming a Hindu state, which is not in keeping with the Constitution, a special court under the MCOCA noted on 4th March 2009.

“Forming an Organisation is fine, but wanting to create a Hindu ‘rajya’ [state] is against the Constitution. We are working under the Constitution”, Judge Y.D. Shinde said during a hearing in the Malegaon blast case. The Judge’s remark came when Counsel Shrikant Shivade, arguing the case of bail for an accused, Lt. Col. Prasad Shrikant Purohit, said there was nothing wrong with his vision of a Hindu ‘Rashtra’(Nation). “If I say, ‘remove the word secular and insert the word Hindu’, there is nothing wrong in that”, the Counsel said. The charge sheet reveals that the blast accused were led by the ideology of forming a Hindu ‘Rashtra’. (Ref: thehindu.com)

What will Politicians do for Votes – Invent ‘Hindu Terrorism’!

So says David Frawley, a.k.a Vamdev Shastri in an article titled ‘Hindu Terrorism or Terrorism Against Hindus?’ We present excerpts here.
Hindus are the most tolerant and accepting of all religious groups and the most concerned with spiritual practices, rather than converting others or conquering the world.

Terrorism is a big problem in India as it is in Pakistan and in the rest of the world. The main religious group to which the great majority of terrorists belong is obviously not the Hindus. While the media in India likes to blame Hindus for terrorism in the country, even if Hindus are the victims. Yet the media of India seems to think that Hindu terrorism is more dangerous or at least a better story, while the greater number of Indians who have died from terrorism caused by non-Hindu groups don’t seem to be worthy of consideration.

Note that the Indian media will not use the term terrorism for any religious group other than the Hindus. Terrorism perpetrated in the name of Islam will be called ‘Jihadi terrorism’ or simply ‘terrorism’. Alleged terrorism in the name of anyone, even a nun, who might be a Hindu, even if it is not proved, will be called ‘Hindu terrorism’. I suspect I may be called a Hindu terrorist for writing this article.

The reason for this fixation on Hindu terrorism is clear. India has suffered from many recent terrorist attacks and there has been little headway in bringing any of the terrorists to justice. Elections are coming up and those who are afraid of losing seats for their failure to deal with real terrorism, which is generally directed against Hindus, feel that raising the bogey of Hindu terrorism will improve their chances at the polls.

Their war on terror is largely a war against Hindus to promote anti-Hindu voting sentiments.

Indians will themselves terrorise Hindus for votes!
Jihadis won’t need to terrorise Hindus anymore because Indians themselves will do it to get elected; calling Hindus terrorists while they take away their human rights and let the real terrorists go free.

Deaths of Hindus do not count for the Government!
Recently more than eight Hindu students have been murdered in the United States. Is the Government of India making a protest against anti-Hindu terrorism in the US? Certainly the American Government would make a protest if American students were being murdered in India, particularly if they were Christians or Christian workers. But deaths of Hindus don’t count it seems.

Challenge the Media and Political groups that target Hindus!
Hinduism is the religion that most commonly teaches us to respect all religions and honor a diversity of Paths to the Divine and yet we find Hinduism remains the most denigrated of all the world’s major religions.

It is time for Hindus to stand up against the distortions of Hinduism that abound in the world today, which means challenging the media and political groups that target and malign Hindus and Hinduism for their advantage. This anti-Hindu media actually seems worse in India than in the West. Sadly, many of these anti-Hindu sentiments come from Hindus in India who see certain other Hindu groups as their enemies. They will sell out their own religion and vilify it with the name of terrorism, if it brings them money, fame or another few years of political power regardless of its ramifications for the future of their country or their religion.

So let us address the real problem of terrorism and not target Hinduism. If the main thing we can boast for in dealing with terrorism is capturing Hindu nuns, our campaign against terror is certainly lacking. (Ref: ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’)
