B. The establishment clause and the due process clause
C. The establishment clause and the free exercise clause
D. The religious tests clause and the due process clause

Best answer:

Answer by It’s That Guy
C. Establishment clause and free exercise clause. This means that government (1) can’t establish an official religion for the country and (2) can’t make any laws that affect the free exercise of religion.

There is a religious tests clause in the Constitution itself, saying that there can be no religious tests to hold office, meaning that you can’t be excluded from holding office if you belong to, or don’t belong to, any particular religion.

Church of Scientology Melbourne?the First Ideal Scientology Church Beneath the Southern Cross

Church of Scientology Melbourne—the First Ideal Scientology Church Beneath the Southern Cross

Church of Scientology Melbourne—the First Ideal Scientology Church Beneath the Southern Cross

Melbourne, Australia (Vocus/PRWEB) January 31, 2011

Thousands of Scientologists, dignitaries and guests from across the nation celebrated a milestone—the opening of the first Ideal Scientology Church in Australia.

Auntie Joy Murphy Wandin, senior elder of the Wurundjeri people, opened the dedication with the traditional “Welcome to Country” ceremony, welcoming Scientologists to the lands of her ancestors.

Scientologist, Melbourne native and award-winning singer and songwriter Kate Ceberano performed a moving rendition of her original composition “This Song is You,” written in honour of the occasion and the heritage of the city and all that Australia holds dear.

In tribute to the significance of the occasion Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board Religious Technology Center and ecclesiastical leader of the Scientology religion, travelled to Melbourne from the United States to officiate at the dedication. He acknowledged the long parade of accomplishments by Australian Scientologists that culminated in the new Church.

“It is my honour to join you this evening and commemorate a moment that will live on in history for a long time to come. Not that you haven’t loomed large in history before, not that you haven’t triumphed over great adversity in years gone by, not that you didn’t stand firm for the dignity of Man, and not that you didn’t indeed uphold the God-given rights of all religions all over this world.

“But having triumphed today in the name of our religion, you just flipped this planet all the way around so that Melbourne now sits on top of the globe. And that’s what it means to build an Ideal Org beneath the Southern Cross.”

Mr. Miscavige also spoke of Melbourne’s hallowed place in Scientology history, noting that Founder L. Ron Hubbard himself came to Melbourne in November 1959 to deliver a series of lectures to its founding Scientology community. As Mr. Miscavige explained: “Those November 1959 lectures marked a turn in the path and a rise in the road, from which the whole panorama of human potential came into focus.”

“Whence, the highest levels of Scientology and the whole vista of spiritual enlightenment and freedom.”

“So you wonder where you stand in the history and legacy of LRH and our religion as a whole? None of it would exist were it not for what began right here—and that’s both the heritage and legacy, which is indelibly woven through the brickwork of your new Ideal Org of Melbourne.”

Acknowledging the Church for its many contributions to the community were Melbourne Lord Mayor the Honourable Robert Doyle, Moonee Valley City Councillor Paul Giuliano, Shadow Minister for Tourism and Major Events, the Honourable Justin Madden, Sociologist Professor Gary Bouma and former Indigenous Person of the Year Uncle Bob Randall.

Praising the Church’s active role in community life, Lord Mayor Robert Doyle told those assembled: “Today marks an historic occasion for Scientology. The building you see before you is the first of its type in Australasia, and the re-birth of an historic Melbourne building. This is a unique space. I hope benefits flow in partnerships, community connection and goodwill. I invite you to celebrate this opening in the heart of our exciting, welcoming and diverse Melbourne.”

Moonee Valley City Councillor Paul Giuliano welcomed the congregation to his metropolitan Melbourne community where the Church is located: “I know that I speak for many when I say thank you so very much for restoring this beloved landmark to its former glory. I cannot think of a better custodian than the Church of Scientology.”

The occasion was a reunion for teacher, football icon and Victoria Shadow Minister Justin Madden, who attended the Catholic University within the walls of what is now the new Scientology Church. He commended the Church for its historic preservation as well as its literacy and drug education initiatives: “Unselfishly, you work to provide ways and means to uplift our society. You have set the standard for the community with your restoration of this building and with your social programs—an example I will point to for others to follow. Your new Church is as Melbourne as Melbourne gets.”

Human rights activist Bob Randall, whose award-winning documentary, Kanyini, exposed the plight of the Aboriginal “stolen generations,” thanked the Church and its Scientology Volunteer Ministers program for its commitment to the indigenous people of Australia: “Scientology Volunteer Ministers have come to my country and given us hope that we can deal with these problems and we will make a difference in the near future. The Volunteer Ministers I’ve met have become my friends. The fellowship between us has been fun and I look forward to continuing that relationship to continue on to the present into the future. On behalf of me and my people, I thank you.”

Melbourne has long held importance for the Scientology religion. Within months of L. Ron Hubbard authoring Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health in 1950, the first Dianetics group in Australia was formed here and in 1955 the first Scientology Church in Australia opened in this city.

Australia similarly long held a place near to L. Ron Hubbard’s heart, beginning with his service “Down Under” as a United States Naval Officer through the first days of World War II. Principally stationed in Brisbane, but also operating from Melbourne, then Lieutenant Hubbard was charged with organising relief efforts for Allied troops trapped in the Philippines. He also proudly served with Australian gunnery units for the defence of Brisbane.

As Scientology Founder, L. Ron Hubbard returned to Australia in 1959 to deliver two historic lecture series: The Melbourne Congress and the 1st Melbourne Advanced Clinical Course. Remembered today for his delineation of the highest spans of the Scientology Bridge, Mr. Hubbard’s Australian lectures will forever hold a cherished place in the religion.

Today, the Melbourne Scientology Church is the first Ideal Church of Scientology Organisation in Australia, realising Mr. Hubbard’s vision for what Scientology can provide for its congregation and community.

The Church now stands on the site of the 19th century estate of Robert McCracken, leading businessman and founder of the legendary Essendon Bombers football team. After the turn of the 20th century, this building became the home of Mercy Teachers’ College, later part of the Catholic University. The original name of the estate is “Ailsa” for Ailsa Craig, an island off the west coast of Scotland from where the McCracken family sailed more than 150 years ago.

Melbourne’s Public Information Centre offers more than 450 informational films illustrating Scientology beliefs, the life and legacy of Founder L. Ron Hubbard, and the full array of Church-sponsored social betterment and community outreach programs.

The Chapel seats hundreds, the library contains all Church Scripture. Course rooms and counselling rooms accommodate Scientologists from throughout Victoria. Seminar rooms, film rooms and Life Improvement Course Rooms make effective solutions to the most pressing challenges people face today easily available to Scientologists and non-Scientologists alike. Workspaces for volunteers stand open and ready for use by parishioners and the community.

Under the guidance of Mr. David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board Religious Technology Center and ecclesiastical leader of the Scientology religion, 23 Ideal Churches have been dedicated and opened since 2003, including those in world cultural capitals—The National Church of South Africa in Johannesburg; the National Church of Scientology of Spain in Madrid; the Church of Scientology of New York, just off Times Square; the Church of Scientology of London, located in the epicentre of the city; the Church of Scientology of Italy in Rome; the Church of Scientology of Washington, D.C., just blocks from the White House on “Church Row”; the National Church of Scientology Mexico, in Mexico City; and the Church of Scientology of Berlin, near the Brandenburg Gate. Another 60 Ideal Churches are in design, planning or construction phases.

The Scientology religion was founded by author and philosopher L. Ron Hubbard. The first Church of Scientology was formed in the United States in 1954 and has today expanded to more than 9,000 Churches, Missions and affiliated groups, with millions of members in 165 countries.

Passion 4 Life Liquid Vitamins & Minerals & BrainTek Institute Launch Groundbreaking First Ever Easy to Use Game for Stress Management & Focus Controlled Only by Brain

Passion 4 Life Liquid Vitamins & Minerals & BrainTek Institute Launch Groundbreaking First Ever Easy to Use Game for Stress Management & Focus Controlled Only by Brain

Dr. Dennis Maness, founder of the BrainTek Institute & Charles Van Kessler, founder of Passion 4 Life liquid vitamins & minerals

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 27, 2011

Passion 4 Life liquid vitamins and minerals and BrainTek Institute have announced the release of a groundbreaking first of its kind easy to use series of Virtual Reality Total Immersion Interactive Games that are controlled by the brain rather than with a joy stick, a controller or computer with the purpose of stress management, better focus and help with other health-related issues. Based on latest neuroscience, these games help reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus, attention and sleep. This cutting edge technology has never been used before in the consumer environment. These games, which can simply be downloaded, have helped over 2000 people improve focus, attention and memory by learning to manage and control their brain.

“The first release ‘Journey to the Center of Your Mind’ teaches people of all ages how to think and develop lobe to lobe communications within their brain,” says Dr. Maness, lead scientist at the BrainTek Institute. “In learning to manage their brain, people of all ages have improved focus, attention and memory. We have used these games in special education programs, public and private schools, lock down institutions and clinics and have seen over 2,000 people of all ages improve grades, productivity and find reading and learning is not a chore.” The games are now being made available to the public and are powered by BrainTek.

In their search to find a way to stabilize the brain neurochemicals which fuel the brain, BrainTek researchers teamed up with the developers of Passion 4 Life liquid vitamins and minerals and worked to create a product that is balanced with essential amino acids, minerals and vitamins. The combination of the game plus the liquid vitamins aids in the long-term brain support to those playing the games and helps make sweeping changes in stress and stress related illness as BrainTek addresses the neuro pathways and Passion 4 Life addresses the vitamin/mineral/amino acid balance in the brain and body. “Passion 4 Life is honored to be part of such cutting edge technology and to be able to support the brain enhancement of those using the games with our powerful and effective liquid vitamins,” says Charles Van Kessler, founder and creator.

This game series teaches players how to manage their brains. It teaches them how to think, how to obtain mental clarity, focus and attention, how to build self-esteem and how to function in life. The game’s average length is 12 minutes for each level and is simply downloaded. It is fun and challenging so people enjoy playing it while experiencing long-term brain enhancement benefits. The results show that students have seen an improvement on tests and are enjoying reduced time required to complete homework assignments. Most excitingly, moods have changed. Parents can feel secure in purchasing this game that is not only free of violence but will entertain their children while providing life-long benefits.

Other game releases will assist with sleep and stress reduction. Maness went on to say, “While the games are not a cure, they go a long way toward teaching you to manage your own brain instead of your brain managing you.”

The games are developed by MindChex, the games’ division of BrainTek Institute. BrainTek has developed protocols for individuals, schools, institutions, doctors and clinics since 1996. BrainTek Institute has been successful in many challenging cases and has been headlined on regional and national news and MSNBC for their successes.

The science behind the games can be found at http://www.mindchex.com. The games are now being released to the public and are available for download at http://www.MindChex.com or http://www.passion4lifevitamins.com

Passion 4 Life liquid vitamins & minerals was created in 2004 by Charles Van Kessler after 20 years of research, development & nutritional studies. After arriving in the US, his vision was to formulate & develop a liquid multi vitamin and mineral product that would give him his health back, and if it worked, he would make it available to the whole world to obtain a much higher quality of life.

That’s exactly what happened. Passion 4 Life liquid vitamins & minerals is a unique product containing 135 high grade whole food based ingredients in meaningful levels. It has no added sugar, no caffeine, no wheat, no soy, no dairy, no gluten, no artificial flavorings or colors. It is designed to strengthen the immune system & provide more energy, stamina, focus, better memory, less aches & pains from every day stress. The purpose of Passion 4 Life is to retain the power & energy of youth well into people’s 70’s and 80’s and to help them look better by feeling younger.

Passion 4 Life vitamins proudly founded and supports Passion 4 K.I.D.S., a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization, dealing with homeless, neglected, abandoned, abused and underprivileged children of any race, color and creed as well as children in emergency situations.

The BrainTek Institute has years of research and experience in identifying issues with the brain/body relationship. By studying different functions of each part of the brain and then integrating this research into practical applications, BrainTek has successfully applied technology in a way that individuals report has enhanced their health and performance of their brain. By using several different methods, they are able to alleviate the symptoms of an astonishing range of disorders, as well as improve personal performance.

Emerson Network Power First to Earn EAL2+ Common Criteria Certification for Secure KVM Switch Series

Emerson Network Power First to Earn EAL2+ Common Criteria Certification for Secure KVM Switch Series

Huntsville, AL (PRWEB) August 10, 2011

Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and a global leader in maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure, today announced the Avocent SwitchView® SC600 and SC700 are the industry’s first secure KVM switches to receive EAL2+ Common Criteria certification. The certification extends a history of KVM leadership that began with the introduction of the secure KVM in 2000 and includes the first secure USB KVM switch and the first secure dual-head DVI switch.

Delivering secure access for any desktop environment with controlled USB connectivity, the next-generation secure switch series offers improved work efficiency while saving desktop space by eliminating redundant hardware and cables. Enhanced with the new profile certification that was introduced by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) in 2010, the switches enable the user to consolidate multiple workstations of varying security classification levels with one keyboard, monitor and mouse without compromising the network security.

“Being the first to market with EAL2+ certification marks another significant milestone and underscores our commitment to provide secure access for any desktop environment where security is mandatory while keeping pace with stringent government standards,” said Michael Helms, director of product management for Emerson Network Power’s Avocent business.

Both the Avocent SwitchView SC600 and SC700 switches feature multiple layers of security, including tamper-proof hardware security at the desktop. In addition, the secure switch ensures that only keyboard and mouse function on target computers by constantly monitoring all devices attached to the console ports. These switches ignore communication from all other USB devices (such as flash drives, hard disk drives, cameras and printers) when switching data to the target.

Common Criteria is an internationally recognized set of guidelines (ISO 15408), which define a common framework for evaluating security features and capabilities of information technology security products. The standard consists of several stringent predetermined evaluation assurance levels. To ensure consistency, vendor products are tested against a chosen level by an independent third-party testing laboratory.

The NIAP Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme for IT Security (CCEVS), was established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA) to evaluate IT product conformance to international standards within the framework of the Common Criteria.

?Homeland Security and Defense? is Penn State?s First Online Minor

‘Homeland Security and Defense’ is Penn State’s First Online Minor

University Park, PA (PRWEB) August 03, 2011

Penn State undergraduate students who want to expand their career opportunities now have a new online option. The homeland security and defense minor is Penn State’s first online minor. It will enable students to acquire specialized knowledge and skills for jobs in the homeland security field, which the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects will grow by as much as 20 percent in the coming decade for occupations in emergency management, first response, law enforcement, and state, local and federal government.

“Students in political science, criminal justice, law and society, and organizational leadership, in particular, will benefit from the minor in homeland security and defense, which will prepare them for entry-level positions in homeland security fields,” said Steven Peterson, Ph.D., professor of politics and public affairs at Penn State Harrisburg and lead faculty member for the minor. “The minor will also facilitate their entrance into Penn State’s online master’s degree in homeland security.”

Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs offers the 18-credit minor, which is delivered online by Penn State’s World Campus. The minor covers topics on homeland security and defense, terrorism, national security policy, security administration, border security, emergency management and critical infrastructure. “It is a logical evolutionary step for Penn State’s online educational portfolio,” Peterson said.

“Occupations in homeland security are broadly distributed throughout the country, which makes online program delivery a good option for first responders and others working in this field,” said Jeremy Plant, Ph.D., professor of public policy and base program coordinator for the online master’s degree in homeland security. “For Penn State graduates of the minor, enrolling in the master’s degree will be seamless.”

Information about the online homeland security and defense minor is available by cell phone and computer.

Penn State World Campus specializes in adult online education, delivering more than 70 of Penn State’s most highly regarded graduate, undergraduate and professional education programs through convenient online formats. Founded in 1998, Penn State World Campus is the University’s 25th campus serving more than 8,500 students in all 50 states and around the world. World Campus is part of Penn State Outreach, the largest unified outreach organization in American higher education. Penn State Outreach serves more than 5 million people each year, delivering more than 2,000 programs to people in all 67 Pennsylvania counties, all 50 states and 114 countries worldwide.

University of Baltimore Student Newspaper Hosts First Amendment Festival on Sept. 17

University of Baltimore Student Newspaper Hosts First Amendment Festival on Sept. 17

FAFFf

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) September 16, 2007

The UB Post will host a First Amendment Free Food Festival on Monday, Sept. 17, Constitution Day, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on the University of Baltimore’s Gordon Plaza. This unique, interactive event will give students and others a glimpse into what life would be like without the free speech rights — freedom of the press, freedom of speech, the right to assemble, freedom of religion, and the right to petition the government — guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. The event is free and open to the public. Gordon Plaza is located at the corner of Maryland and W. Mt. Royal avenues.

Here is how the festival will work:

Guests will “sign away” their First Amendment rights in order to enter a fenced-off area of the plaza, where free food, drink and other giveaways will be available to all participants.
Select students will act as “enforcers” to demonstrate to participants what it means to live without First Amendment rights.
In addition to the enforcers, there will be staged performance pieces to demonstrate what happens when First Amendment rights are taken away.

Nedra Cruz, a graduate student in UB’s publications design program and editor in chief of The UB Post, said the idea for the festival came from a college newspaper convention that she attended last spring. While there, she learned that Florida Atlantic University had successfully hosted a festival about the First Amendment, and their students believed it was a good way to recognize Constitution Day. Post staff members talked with their counterparts at Florida Atlantic’s student newspaper, and Cruz and her fellow students decided to bring the idea to UB.

“We’re recognizing Constitution Day, but we’re doing it in a fun, festive way so that students can enjoy — and nourish — themselves while coming to appreciate their First Amendment Rights,” Cruz said. “Our goal isn’t to offend anyone, but we hope to enlighten the community about its rights and how they can be taken for granted. It’s hard to believe that, in the 21st century, there are still countries where citizens don’t have the freedoms that we have in America.”

The UB Post is the student-run monthly newspaper of the University of Baltimore.

The University of Baltimore is a member of the University System of Maryland and comprises the School of Law, the Yale Gordon College of Liberal Arts and the Merrick School of Business.

Roth-Ira, Making Your First Million Dollars

It boggles my mind how many people out there have no idea what a Roth-Ira is. They simply assume the only tax efficient way to invest is through company sponsored 401k plans. Oh how people are wrong! Roth-Ira’s are the bread and butter of any wise investment plan. It is the only investment vehicle where you invest post-tax dollars and will never be taxed again on the money you initially put in or future earnings.

Now, to make this clear, let me back up. When I say a RI is an “investment vehicle,” I’m saying that’s it’s a method for holding other investments. An Ira by itself is not an investment. One would utilize a Roth-Ira for a wide variety of investment choices. It’s one awesome investment tool!

Let’s get down to the basics:

-A RI is an investment vehicle that holds investments within it. It’s a vehicle for other investments. Think of a Roth-Ira like a car. The passengers within the car would then be your investments like CD’s and stocks. A Roth-Ira is only an account that holds investments within it. You can invest in a wide range of investment choices including: stocks, mutual funds, CDs, money market funds, index funds, and ETF’s.

-It can be opened virtually anywhere. Banks, online brokers, mutual fund companies, pretty much anywhere you look you can open a Roth. For banks, I recommend a small scale credit union in your local area. For discount brokers, I recommend the Vanguard Group. And for mutual fund companies, I recommend the Vanguard Group again haha. Yes, Vanguard is pretty much “baller status.” They have the lowest fees by fast and have the widest range of fund options out there. Just do yourself a favor and start investing through Vanguard. They truly are on your side.

-You get your choice of investments to place within the Roth. This is where the beauty is! You can have literally ANY type of investment in your Roth-Ira account. If you are conservative, I recommend CD’s though your local credit union. If you’re a little riskier like me, I recommend index/mutual funds though a discount broker. And if you’re seeking adrenaline, you can purchase individual stocks through a broker. Isn’t freedom amazing?

-RI contributions are post-tax dollars, so you never pay tax on your investments ever again! People get this confused all the time. A Roth is the only investment vehicle that take your post-tax money, invest it, and is never taxed again. Yes, you heard me right. Even your capital gains are never taxed. This means your money grows tax-free indefinitely, so start investing TODAY.

-You can withdraw your contributions, penalty and tax free. This really is an awesome benefit to a Roth-Ira. It’s a peace of mind for me when money gets tight. I almost see it as a backup emergency fund. Although I have an official emergency fund, it’s nice knowing that I can take out money from my Roth-Ira tax-free unlike 401k plans which you can never touch. I want to make it clear though, although you can take out your contributions, you may not touch the interest made.

-Catch up contributions available. This is an added benefit for older investors. If you;’re age 50 or older, you may contribute an extra ,000 to your Roth-Ira account. The federal government understand that one may not have invested in their younger years so they provide a way to “catch up.”

-Relatively high income limits. Unless you make an obscene amount of money, thee accounts are great for millions of American investors. The government has set income caps for investors, preventing high earners from tax sheltering their money. As a single, you can contribute to your Roth-Ira if your income does not exceed 2,000. If you’re married, your household’s income cap is 9,000. It is highly improbable that you will ever make this much, so the average American does not need to worry. If you were making that much money in the first place, who needs a RI anyways right?!

-Ability to open multiple Roth-Ira accounts at multiple locations. Although the maximum you can invest to a Roth-Ira is ,000 for 2011, you can have multiple accounts at various institutions. However, this is not wise. It can get complicated and messy when it doesn’t have to be. Also you run the risk of exceeding your yearly contribution cap. And this means huge tax implications! So keep things simple and open all your accounts in a single location such as a local bank or online broker like TradeKing.

-Low or no management cost. This is a huge selling point for a Roth-Ira. They have little to no management and upkeep fees. Many brokers and banks have a minimal annual fee on an account but many waive this. And if you keep it relatively low cost with index/mutual funds, you’re looking at fees ranging from.01-1%, depending on what you choose. For example, I like to stay widely diversified, so I hold a “fund of funds” in my Roth-Ira. It’s the Vanguard 2050 Target retirement fund. It has a fee of.19%, which is negligible to me. I recommend you search out the lowest fees possible in your quest for Roth-Ira funds.

Now, where to open a RI account?

You have a myriad of investment choices. You literally can open one almost anywhere. It all comes down to what investments you want to make.

If you’re looking for strictly conservative investments like CD’s, I would say just walk down to your local credit union and open an account with them.

If you’re looking for mutual funds, ETF’s, and index funds, I would recommend Vanguard. I use them for the majority of my retirement accounts. They have the lowest management fees out of anyone I know. Also, ETF trading is FREE with Vanguard. I’m an advocate for ETF investing vs. individual stocks picking, which I also call gambling haha. There’s no such thing as easy, quick money. Investing for the long haul is the only way to do it!

If stocks is your game, go with TradeKing. They are rated one of the top three online discount brokers. I have a personal “play money” account with them. They have low trading fees (.95) and no hidden fees. Their trading platform is great and they have a wide variety of investments including stocks, mutual funds, bonds, real estate funds and many more.

Well, that concludes my introduction to Roth accounts. I hope it was informative and useful for you. This is the easiest way to make your first million and take a giant leap toward securing your financial future. Take this knowledge, go out and start investing in the best financial vehicle out there, a R-A!

Schools from the following states participated including Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The winning essays will be posted online at www.theconstitutional.com/essay.

“We were thrilled with the response to our inaugural American Freedom Essay Contest,” stated Jonathan Bari, Chairman of The Constitutional Walking Tour. “We salute all of the students and educators who participated in the contest on a job well done with the high caliber of essays that we received.”

Essay topics represented a broad spectrum of ideas and different points of view on various subjects including freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, the right to petition the government, the right to bear arms, the right to pursue one’s happiness, etc.

American Freedom Essay Contest

September 17th is designated as Constitution Day because on that date in 1787, the delegates of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia signed the United States Constitution at Independence Hall. Each year, The Constitutional Walking Tour celebrates Constitution Day throughout the month of September, and teachers are encouraged to utilize The Constitutional’s many free educational resources available at: www.TheConstitutional.com/1787.

This year, in honor of Constitution Day, The Constitutional Walking Tour and The Philadelphia Inquirer asked students to give their views about American freedom. The American Freedom Essay Contest challenged educators to get their students to write a 100-300 word essay on the importance of freedom in their lives. Entries were judged in Elementary School, Middle School and High School categories with the winner in each category earning a free field trip of Historic Philadelphia with The Constitutional Walking Tour for his/her class. For more details on The Constitutional’s field trips, visit www.TheConstitutional.com/schools.

The contest is planned to be an annual event. To sign up to receive an email when the details of the 2008 contest is announced, visit www.TheConstitutional.com/schools and sign up for The Constitutional Walking Tour’s Educator mailing list.

Background on Constitution Day

In late 2004, Senator Robert Byrd, one of the United States Senate’s leading Constitutional scholars, introduced legislation that President George W. Bush signed into law on December 8, 2004 requiring that all schools, colleges and Federal agencies receiving Federal funds offer annual educational programming involving the Constitution of the United States on or around Constitution Day, September 17th.
