What Constitute a Good 3d Demo Reel Part 3

what constitute a good 3d Demo reel part 3

Hi! Everybody! It is a nice beautiful -15 Celsiuses day to begin the weeks! I didn’t have the times yesterday to came out with the last of my article about what constitute a good 3d demo reel so this is about the time to end with it today.

Today I said in the last post of the same title I will go trough my demo reel that you can still see in the previous post of this series or article or you could just go and see at this link:

http://the3dblogger.blogspot.com/2009/02/what-constitue-good-3d-demo-reel.html

So now that it is done lets begin! First As I said in a previous post you can see right away that Ive done a opening screen or you may call it a presentation screen. It is like an introduction paragraph in a essay or a opening credit when you watch a TV movie show. It kinda give the feel of what the viewer is gonna see. So it is a good way to start a demo as you have no choice to start somewhere as a matter of facts!!! :OP So in my case I put my three character that Ive modelled and texture in position and in interaction on the left side and on the right side I put the title which include my name and the description of the demo which is a demo reel….

So you might find it redundant and you particularly right! Back in time a tough it was cool to specified that it was a demo reel but now I realize what is the point to specified that it is a demo reel as you will surely give it to the employers with a letter or face to face already saying that you give them your demo reel. It like I was sending you a letter and on the envelop I specified you that it is a letter :OP Beside the peoples who will look at it knows enough their works that they will know right away that it is a demo reel. But anyways that is no big deal put it or not it is as you will. I’m just giving you food for tough here. Anyways if you put it do as the automobile industries. If your done your demo in 2008 then specified it as a 2009 demo reel. It is particularly true if you finish your animation class in December and go on the market in January. You don’t want your demo to look like or be identified as an old demo.

]]>

Just down the demo reel title I put a big red button saying start as you can see. So what this is doing there… My demo reel is a quicktime movie with low compression so I was able to put it on YouTube. It is not a DVD with a menu where you can choose your options etc… Than it is no point to have put a big red start button here, but I didn’t know to much about DVD editing at the time and don’t know to much now to and I tough that I could make this button the play button… but this didn’t happen. I was in a hurry to finish it for the end of class. I think they are several software that can do that like Nero’s. You might want do search on that even tough I’m not to sure if you can implement your own visual and graphics. Anyways at your school you surely have class with teacher that know about it. Remember to not be afraid to ask them for help as they are there for you and paid to teach you.

Now let get on the real thing the meat of our demo. As you edit your demo you might not want to put anything in a messed up way. Remember in a previous post Ive talk about the soundtrack of your demo and how it could and should influence the pace of it and could tell what to put at which place? It is still true but there is more to take in consideration.

When I took my class and at the time of the editing of my demo, one of my teacher told me is theory about how to manage my arts in my demo. What to put at the beginning and what to put in the last etc… Basically he call his theory the ”sandwich effect”. I tend to agree with it so lets take a look a this funny theory. What he mean by sandwich effect is that considering that in a sandwich the bread is the structure of it. The bread it is what put everything together and prevent others condiment to fall apart normally… Then the bread is what it is the most important. I know you see me coming from far away now! :O)

At the beginning of showing your art you will want to put ,according to this theory, a bread slice! NO!!! just kidding, you will want to put one of your big pieces. You got to start big! Impress right away your viewer in the most of the case the employer. Never had a second chance to do a first impression they said. You may put your finest pieces but I will save it for the last place in your demo. Why that? Because just like in any movies and novel or roman or even song before the actual end of the media which is in fact the factual ending. It may be the credit screen at the end of the movie, the conclusion of a novel etc it have what it is call a climax. The climax is like the summit of a mountain, it is the higher point you can reach before starting to go down again. In a movie in example it is often in the last tiers of the movie when the hero get to reach is goal after an epic battle and then in the last scene you see the hero came back to home. Just watch ”the condemned” with Stone Cold Steve Austin! Now I know you understand me :O)

Concretely it mean like in the movies you got a generic of opening than you put maybe your second best piece to start strong, than you go with the condiment, some minor work or work that you like but not as strong in showing your abilities, than one condiment more strong build up until you end up with your final piece which is the cherry on the top of the sundae! Than you put your credit screen with thanks to family and teacher who help you and most important your name and how to reach to you.

Lets take a look to my own private demo reel. First my opening screen, the introduction, than Ive started with a motorcycle which I was very proud of at this time. Than I put other pieces that I liked and mostly the only things that I have with enough potential to be put in a demo. And then I finish with a big character space-marine-like which I was very very very proud of it at this time as I obtain the admiration of my colleague student. Finally I finish with a credit screen with my name again and my email and phone number (which one is not the same anymore!). I will not recommend you to put your phone number on it if you plan to expose your demo to the world via YouTube in example, but if you only plan to show it to employers that’s not bad even tough they will have it in your resume.

OK now that you know how to put your art pieces in your demo and that you know how long to put each thing considering the timing and the beat of the song you use, maybe you are asking your self is there something that employers what to see and something that they not want to see? Well I will talk about it in a next post tomorrow. Id taught that I could be able to finish this series of article about demo reel in this post but in doing it I figured a lot of thing to talk about :OP So stay tune for the tomorrow article in which I will talk about what employers want to see or not and how to finally present your demo reel to the employer in term of media and the course of action to do it!

What Really Constitutes a Good Leader?

The Constitution
by mbrand

What Really Constitutes a Good Leader? We would rather not get into what some Leaders do as that leans more towards negative writings and we do our best to keep from doing that.

Various questions have been asked of Leaders within large corporations, and also within large multi-level programs and leader with the best teams all say the same things.  One of the most popular characteristics of a good leader is their ability to practice what they preach. We remember the quote, “Your actions speak much louder than your words.” The greatest leader of all time was Jesus Christ and he was the epitome of practicing what he preached. In fact, do you remember the proverb which says, “Live by the sword, die by the sword.” This is true with good leadership and how much your leader abides by what they say. So we ask you “how can you expect people do what you say, if you don’t even do what you say”?

A good leader cherishes and is extremely grateful for those who follow. They do this by always doing what they can to train and protect them from harm or criticism, and they are always within reach for their followers. People want security, which is why they buy put money in their 401k, and stay at the same dead end job for years. The former President FDR once said “One can attain a high degree of security in a prison cell if that’s all he wants out of life.”  It’s ingrained into our nervous system to want to feel secure. When leading a team it can be very powerful when they know that you are reachable and ready to help them along the pathway.  Good leaders always speak increase into their tribe and will do whatever they can to make sure they understand their importance. A big part of being a good leader is to know how to instill in their tribe members a feeling greatness about themselves and how important they are.

If you can find a good leader we can guarantee you they had or still have a very good leader because a good leader develops other good leaders. How can you expect to develop other good leaders, if you are not one first? Most of this just boils down to taking the time to spend time with the members of your tribe you want to develop and cultivate, and by being a good mentor to them, you can educate and coach them through their trials and tribulations as they move towards their individual successes. Sometimes just being there to help them get back up after they have fallen is all some needs. One of the best ways as a “Fisher of Men” is by investing it in the relationships of others around you.
The making of a good leader is tremendously broad, but we hope we’ve narrowed it down into some strategies for you to follow when you’re looking for a good leader. If you practice what you preach, look after the others around you, and invest time to develop your tribe members we believe you will indeed know What Really Constitutes a Good Leader.

Antique Religion – Buddha Said Heaven Welcomes All Pure and Good

Gautama Buddha (560-480 B.C.E.)was born a prince in the Sakya or warrior caste, the second highest in the Hindu faith of India. His mother died when he was young and the boy was brought in luxury with servants in a palace.

When Gautama was 29 and just after the birth of his son he felt the need to leave and felt great sorrow at leaving his family. He wandered across the fertile Ganges plains to the tree covered hills of Vindhya hills where he lived for six years.

Here Buddha practiced the usual ways of the ascetic then common among holy men in India. He shaved his head and beard, put on the yellow robes and tortured his body with long fasts and every known form of physical mortification.

He became known as a pure man yet the truth seemed to escape him until he awoke from a fainting fit from hunger he awoke as light came like a flash to his mind.

All the fasting, the suppression and control of the breath, the fasting were leading him to enfeeblement of mind and body. To reach unclouded reason, flawless thinking, surveying the processes of thought, acquire clarity of vision and unadulterated experience, a person must have proper food and lead a healthy life.

Buddha was thrilled by his discovery but his disciples were so shocked that their master would turn away from constant suffering and all left him. The day that followed has been said to be one of those defining moments in history.

Left to himself Gautama walked the forests in now Bihar and sat by the banks of the River Neranjara where he sat under a wild fig tree. Here a lady presented him with a dish of milk which invigorated him.

And it is said there, after his ranging through every emotion known to humanity from blackest despair to sublime hope. Gautama found at last the peace and certainty he sought. Truth was revealed to him and he became the Buddha, the Enlightened One.

Followers became drawn to him from the great and ancient Hindu religion, which caused consternation among the ruling courts. The caste system which Buddha rejected held that all were born into one of five levels of caste, with the ruling court on top.

Next were the warrior caste to protect the court, then down to merchants who were needed for trade and wealth, the higher skilled laborer, and at the bottom the Untouchables. They were all stuck in their positions for life, an Untouchable could never work his way up into court. This is changing now in modern India finally.

Buddhism exported better in other nearby lands, where the gentle teachings allowed all to reach heaven, or Nirvana by living pure lives and forgoing excess. Buddha has long since taken on more oriental eyes and the fat belly in south east Asia, Japan and again now in China.

It seems the feeling of empty lives is driving young affluent coastal Chinese to be meditating in city parks and the authorities are so far able to realize this is not threat.

People are reporting happier lives and feeling more calm. What came to the West in a faddish wave in the 1960 era and has shown evidence of reducing high blood pressure and many calming effects. Good news circles the world in way and waves that can be very good news.

We will carry these thoughts into further articles that had Gautama be the first to break through the Hindu anger about his greater freedom to a rather court style Nirvana that was not sure Untouchables were ever going to more than the septic brigade.

Buddha overlapped their eight steps which might have you become a cow or monkey on your steps through reincarnation. He added a fast track that anyone could choose to make it to Nirvana or Eternal Bliss or Heaven in this life if one lived a pure life and learned the four basic truths.

what would be a good way to make a poster or model illustrating freedom of religion?

Question by Mo-ni-que: what would be a good way to make a poster or model illustrating freedom of religion?
should i make a model or a poster? how should i show freedom of religion? pleez give me some ideas! its due tuesday!

Best answer:

Answer by Brad J
Make a poster…
Have it say “GOD IS DEAD”

even though you dont mean it, and even though I dont mean it.

The fact that you can make something like that, and bring it to school is a prime example of your freedom of religion…

dont do it if you think you’ll get in too much trouble though.

Basic Freedom and Good Citizenship at Heart of Candidate Endorsement List

Basic Freedom and Good Citizenship at Heart of Candidate Endorsement List

Lubbock, TX (PRWEB) February 3, 2006

After extensive research, this week the THSC Political Action Committee released its official candidate endorsement list for the upcoming March primaries. The PAC’s endorsement list has been compiled to inform Texas’ 100,000 strong home school

community and the general public of preferred candidates likely to support the freedom of the home schooling community, based on a comprehensive questionnaire sent to candidates from across the state.

“The slate of candidates that we’ve recommended was based on the candidates’ replies after consultations with home schooling leaders,” says Tim Lambert, Chairman of THSC PAC.

The endorsed candidates list will aid thousands of home schoolers who are volunteering in their own neighborhoods supporting candidates with phone calls, block walking, and other methods as part of THSC’s Good Citizenship Program. The program is designed to teach children the importance of citizen participation in the voting process.

“Our mandate is to strongly encourage home schoolers to actively and vigorously support candidates who have been supportive of home schooling with their time, energy, and resources,” says Lambert.

The endorsement list also includes candidates for open seats whom THSC PAC believes will be supportive of home school freedoms. The list is available online at http://thscpac.org.

For more information about the THSC PAC and their stance on the March primaries or to arrange an interview, contact Tim Lambert at 806-744-4441.

Texas Home School Coalition Association is one of the largest home school organizations in the United States. THSC Association helps new home schoolers in Texas and provides leadership training for local support groups and legal assistance for member home schoolers throughout the state as well. THSC PAC is the political action committee.

What would it take for Republicans/Conservatives to agree that Obama is good on National Security?

Question by Griggnax: What would it take for Republicans/Conservatives to agree that Obama is good on National Security?
I’ve seen so many posts here that slam Obama as being weak on National Security, as being a pacifist, etc., that I’m wondering, what does he have to do to make you think otherwise?

Finally capturing or killing Bin Laden?
Stopping a high-profile attack on the homeland?
Something else?

And if something like that were to happen, would you give Obama the credit, or Bush?

Best answer:

Answer by Freedom Guy
let’s see:
– not attacking gun rights
– not releasing terrorists
– sealing the border
– maintaining order in iraq
– keeping iran from getting nukes
– responding with vigor to hamas, etc
– keeping bush’s 7 year streak of no attacks at home alive
– not weakening out military by allowing gays to serve openly

BTW, Bin Laden is a figure head and nothing more. I’d like to capture him, try him and kill him…. but that won’t stop the march of radical islam will continue to kill free people. only ignorant liberals believe this to be true. so, security-wise capturing bin laden means nothing.

21 GOOD REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT ALTERNATIVE OR SECOND CITIZENSHIP AND PASSPORT

Citizenship and Freedom
by h de c

21 GOOD REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT ALTERNATIVE OR SECOND CITIZENSHIP AND PASSPORT:

1.   Political or economic siituation in your home country makes travel on your current passport difficult.
2. Your assets are the target of litigation or you are burdened by taxation.
3. Your basic human rights or travel is restricted by your citizenship.
4. You are not allowed to work, do business, buy property or land overseas or settle in another country.
5. Your assets, freedom of movement and even life are threatened by your country’s economical or political situation.
6. You are subject to persecution for your religious or political beliefs or for pursuing certain harmless activities.
7. Your current citizesnhip and passport can make you exposed for hijackers and terrorists.
8. Your current passport could be revoked, confiscated or suspended for some reasons.
9. You can be a subject to tax on your worldwide income, currency controls or other confiscation measures.
10. Your state controls, restricts or monitors your travels or private or business activities.
11. Your present passport causes you delays, harassment or denies at any border.
12. You need visas to visit places where you want to go or stay.
13. Your citizenship forces you into unwanted military or other burden obligations.
14. You are identified as a citizen of an unpopular, immoral, aggressive or despotic state.
15. Your passport needs to be renewed or validated frequently.
16. Limited freedom to invest your money when and where you please.
17. You belong to the “wrong” country, like ex-Yogoslavia, Iraq, Iran, North Korea etc.
18. You cannot invest in the foreign stock markets or offshore mutual funds without restriction or hindrance.
19. You would like to insure a freedom of movement, residence, business of choice for yourself, your dependants etc.
20. You simply would like to open a new opportunities and guarantee a certain freedom and choice for yourself or your dependants.
21. You just would like to have a right for employment in another country which is not available now or perimtion is difficult to obtain.

There, of course, can be other reasons to gain another passport. You may possibly have a passport from a country that has travel restrictions imposed upon it, and this can be frustrating to say the least. For example:
*   Many Chinese are desperately looking for a way to get out of their country, and/or to ease travel restrictions.

* Many US citizens do not like the idea of being enslaved to the IRS worldwide, regardless where they may choose to live. Also they may not like being targeted by terrorists because of irresponsible actions by their immature government.

* Many Western Europeans feel, that during these turbulent times, it may be a good idea to nurture their plans for an additional insurance policy against difficult times ahead.

* Many Russians and Eastern Europeans are tired of having to queue to get visas all the time, and being treated as second class individuals by many, just because of their nationality.

* Many Africans and Latin Americans have tasted a bit of freedom but it doesn’t seem like they are free all the time as crazy governments and extreme travel restrictions make it very hard to get around.

You may qualify to obtain your documents free through ethnic background, ancestry or religion in; Brazil, China, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America etc. Another way is to get an alternative passport by registration, by descent, via marriage or naturalisation.

In some countries you can be eligible for your 2nd passport in just 6 months after residence application and there is no need to physically spend this time in the country!

There is an option for a 2nd passport and citizesnhip virtually for everyone who is seriously interested.

Please, I need good historical quotes warning the people about the potential corruption/tyranny of government?

Question by Troll2009: Please, I need good historical quotes warning the people about the potential corruption/tyranny of government?
Someone already sent me these three quotes from Jefferson

“I am not a friend to a very energetic government. It is always oppressive”.-Thomas Jefferson

“Most bad government has grown out of too much government”.-Thomas Jefferson

“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first”.-Thomas Jefferson

Anything more quotes like this with a source would be greatly appreciated, I would like to memorize these, thanks
