Former Jones Day Partner and Ohio Solicitor Joins Litigation Boutique

Former Jones Day Partner and Ohio Solicitor Joins Litigation Boutique

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) November 10, 2011

Former Ohio Solicitor General and Jones Day partner Douglas R. Cole has joined Organ Stock LLP, which will now be known as Organ Cole + Stock LLP, the firm announced today. The partners, all of whom are former Jones Day litigation partners, have more than five decades of experience in representing some of America’s largest companies in connection with their most pressing litigation matters.

Before becoming a partner at Jones Day, Cole served as Ohio’s Solicitor General under Attorney General Jim Petro. Cole personally argued five cases before the United States Supreme Court, and more than twenty cases in the Ohio Supreme Court and Sixth Circuit. He also has extensive experience in complex civil litigation, including intellectual property litigation, at both the trial and appellate level.

Shawn Organ noted that Cole joining the firm sends a message that, “We are building a real litigation powerhouse. By bringing together top-notch attorneys in a smaller and more nimble firm, we can offer greater flexibility on fee arrangements and are positioned to offer clients real value in the changing legal market.”

Cole said, “Every business has to ensure they are getting the most value for the investment in legal services. We have the expertise necessary to counsel clients from the initial complaint all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, if need be.” Cole noted that the new firm’s low overhead means they can do what large firms often cannot – offer an unparalleled depth of experience and expertise at a cost-effective price point.

While a partner at Jones Day’s Columbus office, Cole represented clients on a variety of matters ranging from general business litigation, to patents, trademarks, consumer class actions, antitrust law, state and federal constitutional challenges, and issues involving state contracting. Cole’s past experience also includes a stint as a law professor at the Moritz College of Law at the Ohio State University. He received his law degree from the University of Chicago, where he graduated with high honors, and he has a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Cole noted that his engineering background makes him very comfortable with the ever-increasing number of cases, both in the intellectual property field and elsewhere, where technology plays a crucial role. “My technical background gives me a real edge in working with experts and understanding the technical issues that may drive a particular case,” Cole said.

Freedom High School Joins with FreedomBands.com to Raise Money to support American Troops

Freedom High School Joins with FreedomBands.com to Raise Money to support American Troops

(PRWEB) April 20, 2005

The aptly named Freedom High School’s Student Government Association has teamed up with Freedombands.com maker of the colorful Freedom Bands. With the support of this Orlando High School, Freedombands.com hopes to jumpstart their drive to $ 25 million for the troops.

The idea behind Freedom Bands came from a family in Utah. Basing their product on the wildly successful Lance Armstrong “Live Strong” bands, they created Freedom Bands that show support for the US military. Kib and Lisa Jensen and their four children started the foundation in the home with a goal of raising $ 25 million to send to the soldiers and their families. They’re original red band has now been joined by five other colors and patterns. With the help of schools like Freedom High, they are stepping up sales on their new Freedom Bands.

Freedom Bands inscribed with “Life Liberty Freedom” are now available in red, brand-new white, blue, swirl, camouflage and glow-in the dark. The more prominent black lettering of these new Freedom Bands allows wearers to clearly show their support for our American troops.

The proceeds from the sale of Freedom Bands is used 100% to support the US troops and their families back home, but they also give all Americans a reminder of the daily sacrifice out soldiers make and allow the wearer to show a visible sign of their support.

“It does not matter what party you belong to. These bands are to support those who fight for our country and say we are proud to be American,” says Lisa Jensen.

Freedom High is only the latest in the list of high schools, radio and television stations , as well as the troops themselves, who have generously bought and distributed the Freedom Bands, leading to the $ 30,000 that has been raised and donated to charities and organizations devoted to helping soldiers and their families. FreedomBand donations have already been made to the American Red Cross, USA Cares, Armed Forces Children’s Education Fund, the Fisher House Foundation and A Million Thanks.

For more information on what Freedom High plans to do with the bands, contact the school or Freedombands.com.
