If freedom of religion is not also freedom from religion, why are businesses allowed to be open on Saturday?

Question by Anonnie Mouse (haz a rainbow from jeezus): If freedom of religion is not also freedom from religion, why are businesses allowed to be open on Saturday?
Saturday is a holy day in some religions, but not in others. If we don’t actually have freedom from religions we do not ourselves follow, then why are people allowed to run their businesses on the holy days of religions they don’t practice?

According to ‘Freedom of Religion,’ is one allowed to worship the Devil without being prosecuted?

This is just for history class; I’m curious as to what ‘Freedom of Religion’ is restricted to, considering that ‘Freedom of Speech’ is restricted. I mean, you can’t really run around the streets shouting “I love penis!” without getting in trouble.

As long as you are not infringing on the rights of others, and you don’t break any laws you are free to worship as you please.

Q&A: Should a person be allowed to break the law in the name of freedom of religion?

Question by C.S.: Should a person be allowed to break the law in the name of freedom of religion?
For example, Native Americans are allowed to possess eagle feathers in violation of the Endangered Species Act.

This is a should question, not an ‘are’ question: so give me your ideal answers about whether freedom of religion should trump the law. (particularly when that law has no human victims).
On the Native American thing, they won a court ruling saying they could violate ESA. It wasn’t provided for in law, but was an exception made legally.

Yes, unless your religious beliefs entail violating the rights of others (i.e. keeping same-sex couples from getting married).
