Side by Side: Author Releases New Book That Shows The Purpose of Women

Houston, TX (Vocus) May 23, 2010

For centuries, humankind has made the mistake of misunderstanding the purpose and plan for women in this life. Women have often been discriminated against – most have been treated like property, objects, and have been put in a rank inferior to men, or a sub-class category. Side by Side: God’s Purpose aims to change this perception by encouraging women to pursue their purpose in God’s divine plan.

Women have long been treated unfairly not only by society but also by the very establishments that dictate man’s spiritual station. Religion, as evidenced through time, has also been guilty of treating women unfairly. The system that runs in most societies and religions go hand in hand in placing women in a state of emotional and spiritual ties, effectively imprisoning them and limiting their capacity to accomplish their purpose. Many religions do not allow women the freedom to pursue their plans and dreams; some religions even go as far as to put women in a state of emotional and spiritual slavery.

Religion should be at the forefront of treating women with respect and dignity they deserve. To change the current state at which religion is treating women, the author releases Side by Side: God’s Purpose for a Woman to encourage and motivate women to believe in God, to believe that they have a purpose, and to believe that they are a part in God’s divine plan. Who Were ‘The Real Villains’ of 9-11? America & Iraq: Seduced by Fear, A New Book by Author Dr. Amaal V.E. Tokars

Who Were ‘The Real Villains’ of 9-11? America & Iraq: Seduced by Fear, A New Book by Author Dr. Amaal V.E. Tokars

Myrtle Beach, SC (PRWEB) September 11, 2006

Grapevine Publishing is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Amaal V.E. Tokars book, America & Iraq: Seduced by Fear available Spring 2007. In her book, Tokars states: “As the world prepares to enter one of its most serious wars in history, it is most crucial for American citizens to be able to obtain information and understand issues. It is through Textual Imagery, information and communication filtered to us second by second, that most American people shape their beliefs and opinions simply by virtue of what they have read, heard or have been shown.”

The author, Dr. Amaal Tokars takes you on a journey before 9-11 and after, demonstrating why the average citizen should have been prepared for war and how the notion of our freedom has been relegated to a diminished voice. Dr. Tokars stresses that without true understanding and knowledge of other cultures and current events, we remain static and forego any possibility of the freedoms that our forefathers fought so intensely for. She carefully documents why a civilized human society cannot afford to think in tribal terms and how that type of thinking will only lead to mistrust and, in due course, to completely unjustifiable disasters such as what tragically happened on 9-11.

Dr. Tokars guides readers toward the process of becoming an Organic Citizenry by learning how to discern truth with clarity and discover where to go to acquire the facts, renewing our authentic voice and true freedom. Dr. Tokars challenges her readers to be Organic Citizens, to commit themselves to decipher and challenge all Textual Imagery — to think, question, act, and participate. Dr. Tokars gives us an intriguing analysis and a challenge to live our lives as more responsible citizens of the world.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Amaal Tokars holds a PHD in Education and Anthropology. She has spent her professional career working in the diverse arena of human services and is the author of the upcoming book: America & Iraq: Seduced by Fear. She resides in the Chicago area with her family. It is her hope that her work will promote dialogue on the meaning of citizenship in a global society. Centreville, Maryland, Author Publishes New Book about the Constitution

Centreville, Maryland, Author Publishes New Book about the Constitution

Pittsburgh, PA (Vocus/PRWEB) March 10, 2011

One Man’s Opinion: A Suggested Rewrite for the Constitution of the United States, a new book by William Kuehler, Jr., has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

If you could change one thing about the United States and our government, what might you consider? William D. Kuehler, Jr. has a profound respect for the American Constitution of 1787, which gave rise for the world’s first great democracy. It has successfully served our nation for over two hundred years, providing for our people and fending off external threats. Yet, our Constitution has proven perishable over time. Even with amendments, it has become apparent that much was not included, such as a provision mandating a balanced federal budget.

In humble recognition to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defending our way of life, William D. Kuehler, Jr. puts forth a new constitution, which corrects the inadequacies of the original and forces the government to behave in a more logical way. Through One Man’s Opinion: A Suggested Rewrite for the Constitution of the United States, Kuehler seeks to overhaul our constitutional foundation to make it stronger, so that we, as a nation, shall continue moving upward toward a bright future.

A native of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, William David Kuehler, Jr. has lived in Centerville, Maryland for the past twenty years. Kuehler earned a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Northrop Institute of Technology in 1969 and a master’s degree in Engineering Science for Pennsylvania State University in 1980. After a thirty-four-year career as a Mechanical Design Engineer, Kuehler retired in 2006 from the Northrop Grumman Company. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, fishing, golfing, model boat building, and model trains.

One Man’s Opinion: A Suggested Rewrite for the Constitution of the United States is an 48-page paperback with a retail price of $ 10.00. The ISBN is 978-1-4349-0946-6. It was published by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Author Brian McLaren Unveils Spiritual Practices for the “Not Religious” in ‘Naked Spirituality: A Life with God in Twelve Simple Words’

Author Brian McLaren Unveils Spiritual Practices for the “Not Religious” in ‘Naked Spirituality: A Life with God in Twelve Simple Words’

San Francisco, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) March 15, 2011

More than 20 percent of Americans define themselves as “spiritual but not religious,” a growing segment that Christian churches are finding tough to attract or keep. Author and speaker Brian McLaren suggests in his new book that a transparent encounter with God is what most spiritual people are seeking – and that this encounter is too often missing from organized religion. McLaren has penned Naked Spirituality: A Life with God in 12 Simple Words (HarperOne, March 15, 2011) to outline a dozen durable, doable spiritual practices that can lead to a truly spiritual life – and even to true religion.

McLaren, heralded in 2005 as one of TIME Magazine’s top 25 evangelicals, writes: “This is a book about getting naked—not physically, but spiritually. It’s about stripping away the symbols and status of public religion—the Sunday-dress version people often call ‘organized religion.’ We are after a lost treasure as old as the story of the Garden of Eden: the possibility of being naked and not ashamed, naked before God and naked before one another, too, where we have no need to cover up, to protect, to posture, to dress to impress, just the freedom to be who we are, what we are, as we are. I hope this book will help you strip away distractions and discover that precious hidden treasure underneath.”

Naked Spirituality offers twelve words, or practices, to anchor the reader in God and free him or her to do the holistic work the gospel calls for – to pray as well as save the planet; to worship as well as lift up the poor and needy. McLaren shares practical wisdom for living a truly spiritual life as he presents a dozen exercises for beginning and sustaining a meaningful relationship with God. Rooted in four seasons, these practices are represented by simple words which are easy to remember but rich in transformative power:

Season One is Simplicity: This spring-like season of spiritual awakening is built on the framework of three words representing three spiritual practices – Here, Thanks, O!
Season Two is Complexity: Like summer, this is a season of spiritual strengthening and it is marked by three concepts: Sorry, Help, Please
Season Three is Perplexity: This autumn-like season is one of spiritual surviving, with three practices guided by these emotive words: When?, No!, and Why?
Season Four is Harmony: As with winter, this is a season of deepening, practiced with three spiritual. concepts: Behold, Yes, and […]

McLaren invites readers to leave behind negative experiences of religion so they can become truly spiritual people and reclaim the promise of religion. He writes: “Religion, by its etymology, is about connecting us together again. In this light true religion and naked spirituality are two names for the same thing: seeking vital connection. So if religion is experienced as promoting selfishness rather than otherliness, as prioritizing one’s own personal salvation and religiosity over the well-being of others, then religion becomes anti—religious. Maybe if we name this kind of unspiritual phenomenon “de-ligion” instead of “religion,” we can save the latter word for the traditions that enhance and support naked spirituality.”
