Atlanta Law Firm Hosts Future Emory Law Students

Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) April 05, 2012

Atlanta-based law firm Schklar & Heim, LLC hosted Emory University School of Law’s reception for admitted applicants on March 30, 2012. The Friday evening cookout kicked off the law school’s visiting weekend, during which the future members of the Class of 2015 gathered together in Atlanta, Georgia to get to know Emory Law. The reception was held at the home of Schklar & Heim attorneys Edwin J. Schklar and Maggie M. Heim, and gave admitted applicants the opportunity to meet each other and talk to several Emory Law alumni and faculty in a relaxed setting.

After Friday evening’s reception, the admitted applicants met at the law school on Saturday for a full day of learning about law school basics, professional development, career strategy, financing their educations, and living in Atlanta. They also received a tour of the school and participated in question and answer sessions with law professors, deans, and alumni.

Schklar & Heim Founder, Edwin J. Schklar, who earned his J.D. and M.B.A. from Emory University, explained that it was a pleasure to host the event. “Emory University gave me an excellent foundation for my law career, and I am happy to assist in the law school’s continued success. I enjoyed answering questions from students and explaining why I chose to attend Emory and establish a career in Atlanta after serving as a trial attorney in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps at the Military District of Washington.”

The visiting weekend also gave admitted applicants the opportunity to experience Emory University and see the city of Atlanta. Some of the students who have already decided to attend Emory Law next year utilized the weekend to meet professors and other students, and to make arrangements for the next three or four years of their lives. Other admitted applicants, who are not yet certain of which school they will attend, used their time in Atlanta to determine whether Emory Law is the right school for them.

The cookout was an enormous success with approximately 150 people in attendance. Those who attended participated in great conversation and savored a warm, beautiful spring evening in Atlanta. Attorney Maggie M. Heim explained, “The prospective students were eager to learn about the quality of life and business and legal opportunities Atlanta has to offer. Our guests on Friday evening were quite diverse. Each of their career interests varied greatly, which contributed to conversations on a variety of legal and non-legal topics. I am pleased that the event proceeded so smoothly and that everyone seemed to have a great time. I wish the students success in their future legal careers.”

Henley-Putnam University Webinar Series to Examine the Effects of 9/11, Past and Future

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) August 18, 2011

Henley-Putnam University’s next free webinar, “A Decade of Developments in Strategic Security,” (https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/668887482) will take an in-depth look at important changes and significant advancements in the multi-faceted field of strategic security in the past ten years since September 11, 2001.

On Thursday, August 25th, Henley Putnam University faculty and advisory board members will discuss significant changes in their respective fields of intelligence management, terrorism and counter terrorism, and strategic security and protection management.

The University will tap into the wealth of knowledge and expertise currently on staff. Speakers will include:

Greg Schneider, internationally recognized security and counter terrorism specialist, former security analyst under world renowned terrorism expert Prof. Yonah Alexander, and former career soldier with the elite Israel Defense Forces, involved in counter terrorism missions as well as the protection of national security assets.
Dr. Robin Thompson, former federal Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations assigned to AFOSI HQs, first responder to the Pentagon crash site and currently the Lead Counterintelligence Special Agent for NASA at the Langley Research Center.
Lieutenant Colonel David Lon Walker, US Army Military Police Corps, former commander of the 385th Military Police Battalion in Stuttgart Germany, former Department of Defense Liaison Officer to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in Washington, DC and former chief of police.

This esteemed panel of experienced individuals will be led in the webinar discussion by Moderator, Joe McDonald, who has an extensive background in many aspects of the security profession, including overseeing and conducting vulnerability assessments of critical federal and state infrastructure, and ensuring the protection of those infrastructures. Mr. McDonald serves on the Nevada Homeland Security Commission, Committee on Critical Infrastructure Protection. He also has experience in law enforcement as a contract special investigator to various federal agencies. Mr. McDonald is currently on the Board of Directors for ASIS International, the preeminent organization for security professionals.

“Henley-Putnam University was founded after ten years of arduous planning and research, and before the tragic events of September 11th, 2001,” stated Jim Killin, the University’s CEO. “In the post-9/11 era, security and protection concerns have risen to unprecedented levels. There’s an increased focus on physical security and intelligence-gathering on a local, state and national level in order to secure and protect personnel, data and facilities from terrorist attacks, workplace violence and other security threats. This trend has greatly increased the demand for intelligence, counterterrorism, and protection personnel in both the public and private sectors. It has never been more important that those professionals have the very best training available.”

“Violent extremism is a complicated challenge for the United States,” said President Obama in his White House paper, ‘Empowering Local Partners to Prevent Violent Extremism in the United States,’ released August 3, 2011. Moderator Joe McDonald commented, “In that light, I’m pleased to be working with Henley-Putnam University, which maintains a sole focus on strategic security, and educates tomorrow’s professionals in the identification and deterrence of terrorist attacks and other threats to our nation’s security.”

The second webinar to be held Sept 15, will continue with this topic but it will be forward looking. The panel will discuss their own opinions and predictions of what to look for in the coming years.

Cybersecurtiy Securing Our Digital Future

The United States is one of the global leaders infiltrating technology into our daily lives and this technology adoption has transformed the global economy and connected people in ways never imagined. Children use the Internet daily to do homework, blog with their friends and teacher, and email their mom; it is second nature to them. My mom and dad can read the newspapers about their daughter on-line and can reach me anywhere in the world from their cell phone to mine. And people all over the world can post and watch videos and read our blogs within minutes of completion. I can’t imagine my world without this connectivity and I would bet that you cannot either.

Now consider that the same networks that provide this connectively also increasingly help control our critical infrastructure. These networks deliver power and water to our households and businesses, they enable us to access our bank accounts from almost any city in the world, and they are transforming the way our doctors provide healthcare. For all of these reasons, we need a safe Internet with a strong network infrastructure and we as a nation need to take prompt action to protect cyberspace for what we use it for today and will need in the future.

We are late in addressing this critical national need and our response must be focused, aggressive, and well-resourced. We now have a strong and common view of what is needed to achieve change. Ensuring that cyberspace is sufficiently resilient and trustworthy to support U.S. goals of economic growth, civil liberties and privacy protections, national security, and the continued advancement of democratic institutions requires making cyber security a national priority.

Protecting cyberspace requires strong vision and leadership and will require changes in policy, technology, education, and perhaps law. Conclusion outlines the beginning of a way forward in building a reliable, resilient, trustworthy digital infrastructure for the future.

There are opportunities for everyone—individuals, academia, industry, and governments—to contribute toward this vision. To accomplish our goals. It must begin with a national dialogue on cyber security and we should start with our family, friends, and colleagues.

We Turn Dreams Into Reality With A HOME BASED BUSINESS ·A More Profitable Future for You ·Residual Income ·Belief in yourself

Louisville, KY (PRWEB) September 30, 2004

We Are New to the Area With A Major Opportunity. Louisville Is An Open Market; Your Area Could Be Too.

Is Your Job Keeping You From Your Family? More Hours; Less Money.

Last year 2 million Jobs Were Eliminated. Will You Be Next?

It’s time to take control of your future. Imagine looking into the mirror and knowing the image you are looking at is going to take control of your life, be your own boss, and replace the income you are now receiving. No more worries of corporate downsizing and lay-offs. There is a trillion dollar industry that will make this all possible for you. All you need is the desire, the Internet, and a telephone.

The only person who can stop you from succeeding is you. We talk ourselves out of things far too often. Are you scared to succeed? The amount of money you can acquire is limitless using our home based business system. Attain a residual income. Do not struggle and scrape in order to get by on a job you hate.

Pitch upon that course of life which is most excellent, and custom will make it the most delightful. -Ben Franklin

After giving this advice, Ben Franklin went on to say, “But many pitch on no course of life at all, nor form any scheme of living by which to attain any valuable end; but wander perpetually from one thing to another.” Or, as another old saying goes, “if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” Too many people act as if life owes them a living and are surprised and upset when good things do not just come their way.

Here are some simple rules for achieving success.

Set goals. Decide what things are important

to you. Keep in mind that you cannot do

    everything, so prioritize and choose.

Stay Focused. Don’t waste time on tasks that

    do not advance your goals.

Break big goals down into little ones.

As the old joke goes, “How do you eat an elephant?

A little at a time.”

This is a two-tiered business wherein first we address health and wellness, secondly we grow the business. In order to develop the business we get on the product to be a walking billboard. This builds our business. Due to life altering effects of the products many customers become team leaders in order to develop a business.

This is a duplicable process. You will never be alone. There are support meetings, support calls, and your team leader will always be available to you. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Duplicate…Duplicate…Duplicate.

Our opportunity offers the best benefits you will find anywhere. Working out of the home offers: tax breaks, freedom, and many other opportunities you cannot get while working for someone else. The rewards you get from customer satisfaction, and the compensation you get from doing so are endless. You hold the key to it all:

Enhance peoples’ lives through a Physician

     Lead Advisory Health Network.

Acquire success by helping others reach

     success.

    Qualify for tax breaks

    Choose your own work hours.

Encourage clients to become team leaders.

    Be your own boss.

    Earn to your greatest potential.

We have Marketing Tools, Training, and Support vs. You Having Freedom, Choices, a New Lifestyle, and Time With the Family.

The business is in place. Once again it is a duplicable business. You are in business for yourself, but never by yourself. The support system is phenominal because when you grow, we grow. You will have support meetings to attend, support calls, and a team leader that is always a call away. There is no reason to fail except; not doing anything.

Opportunity Is Missed By Most People Because It Is Dressed In Overalls And Looks Like Work. –Thomas Edison
