Chinese Government Selects SeaSecure to Provide Maritime Security & Antiterrorism Training

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL (PRWEB) January 8, 2004 –

– The Chinese government announced that it has selected SeaSecure LLC, a global leader in maritime security and counter-terrorism consulting, to provide maritime security and antiterrorism training to senior members of the Hong Kong Marine Department.

“SeaSecure is very proud to have been selected by the Hong Kong government to provide this essential training to their Marine Department,” said Kim Petersen, SeaSecure’s President at a news conference. “Working with our regional partner, Securicor plc, we have already concluded over six training and certification classes and more are already in the pipeline.”

Security training is required as a result of the International Port Facility and Security (ISPS) Code, which was adopted by the UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) to address maritime security at all international ports and the security of ships engaged in international commerce. The ISPS Code has set strict standards for port and ship operators that must be achieved by 1 July 2004.

These students will become Port Facility Security Officers in Hong Kong or the People’s Republic of China, where they will perform port security audits. The three- and five-day training programs provide comprehensive instruction on maritime security using protocols established by the IMO and SeaSecure.

SeaSecure provides maritime security training to US and foreign governments and industry.

Turkish Government Receives Maritime Counterterrorism Training from US Company

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL (PRWEB) May 24, 2004 –

The Turkish Government has recently received critical maritime security and counter-terrorism training from SeaSecure LLC, a leading US maritime security company. The training was provided to the country’s port and ship security auditor personnel, all of whom are employed by Turk Loydu, Turkey’s Recognized Security Organization (RSO).

As a result of the terror attacks of 9/11, the United Nations established the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code in 2002. The ISPS Code sets minimum standards for maritime security at all international ports and the security of ships engaged in international commerce. These strict standards must be achieved by the compliance deadline of 1 July 2004.

“Turk Loydu was looking for a company with a history of demonstrated expertise in maritime security to provide instruction to our port security auditors. As the RSO for the Turkish Government it is very important that our auditors receive training that will enable them to perform their duties in a knowledgeable and professional manner,” said Turk Loydu Executive Gokhan Dedeoglu in a statement. “SeaSecure is recognized as the world leader in maritime security and was selected to provide this critical service to Turk Loydu. SeaSecure’s reputation for professional service is well deserved and we greatly benefited from their exceptional training. We look forward to future opportunities to work together.”

SeaSecure has long provided maritime security training to governments and maritime organizations, including the US Coast Guard, US Navy, the Department of Homeland Security, the Transportation Security Administration, as well as the governments of countries such as China.

“Turkey and Turk Loydu have a long-standing commitment to maritime security and SeaSecure is very proud to have been selected to provide this comprehensive and important training,” said Kim Petersen, SeaSecure’s President. “We look forward to working with Turk Loydu’s team of professionals in the future as they tackle the compliance process mandated by the ISPS Code.”

Oceanix Maritime Security LLC Launched to Serve America’s Ports, Terminals, and Shipping Companies

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL (PRWEB) August 12, 2004

Cognisa Security, Inc. and international maritime security specialist SeaSecure LLC have launched Oceanix Maritime Security LLC which will provide specially trained and certified security guards, along with security consulting solutions for seaports, terminal operators, shipping companies, ferry operators, and cruise lines.

“Oceanix was created specifically to satisfy the unique security requirements of the port and shipping industries by providing an enterprise security solution,” said Cognisa CEO, Keith Badham. “With Cognisa’s ability to recruit and train superior security guards, coupled with SeaSecure’s in depth knowledge of the security intricacies at our nation’s ports, Oceanix is poised to become the security supplier of choice within the maritime industry.”

“Port and ship operators can no longer accept the risk or liability associated with poorly vetted, inadequately trained security guards protecting critical ports, cargo facilities, or cruise ships terminals. Due to the absence of specialized and professional guard services in the market, Oceanix was created. Oceanix will, for the first time, offer carefully screened and highly trained maritime professionals in the role of port security guards,” adds Kim Petersen, President of SeaSecure. “Oceanix is in a unique position to understand, implement, and even manage our client’s security program because of our in depth understanding of U.S. and international standards, including the MTSA and ISPS Codes.”

Each partner brings to the table demonstrated expertise. SeaSecure is one of the most respected names in the maritime security industry. Staff members have performed security and vulnerability assessments in over 90 countries and 170 seaports. With more than 25 years experience as a US security provider and 30 offices throughout the United States, Cognisa partners with its customers to ensure long-term success. To achieve this goal, Cognisa uses metrics to continually measure its success in meeting its customers’ needs, ensuring that service consistently exceeds customer expectations.

With the resources and security expertise to assess facilities and make staffing, systems, design, and technology recommendations, Oceanix is prepared to supply customers with a greater return on their security investment. As a single source for maritime security, Oceanix can supply guard services, certified Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO’s), security management services, security assessments, security systems and program design, engineering, and project management.

All Oceanix guards are qualified as SafePort Guards – an expert professional guard force specifically recruited and specially trained to protect ports and ships. SafePort Guards exceed the stringent requirements of the ISPS Code and MTSA. All Oceanix supervisors and managers are certified PFSOs in accordance with the ISPS Code and MTSA. Oceanix is the only company with a commitment to maritime security expertise and training. For example, it trains and certifies its entire management team as PFSO’s.

The outsourcing of security at America’s ports is a new strategy in a fast-evolving industry. Oceanix is committed to providing unmatched service and value satisfying both customer requirements and government regulations.
