zennie2005.blogspot.com – On Thursday April 9th a criminal incident impacting nearly a million people in three counties of Silicon Valley went largely unnoticed by the media, both mainstream and blogs, yet has enormous national security implications far beyond the scale and scope of September 11th 2001 or “9-11” and potentially impacting millions of Americans. What was it and why? Distributed by Tubemogul.

The divide between those that need (or understand) fiber, and those that dont is huge – its like half the population use the stuff, but havent got a clue how it impacts them when its not there. Whats a real job in the US? and does China do that now? Fiber sounds like an important component for the US’s future, for those interested in that sorta stuff.

Well I’m Australia and now I hope the Government doesn’t rip up the Copper Network when they Finnish the 100Mbit/s Fibre Optic cause the Copper would make a Good Back-up. Anyone agree? =)

You’re right about the oil thing. But if fiber optics are cut in your town you have no phone or internet, and no mobile. Satellites do shit all in communications. They’re used for weather and GPS.

Ha ha ha, man your’se f tupid. There’s a tube in Alaska carrying enourmous amount of oil, you can go blow this up easily, can imagine what will be the result. Are you an idiot, that’s bullshit, there’s a lot of shit that could be done. But that’s meaningless, man the thing that matters is the ideology. Dome fiber optics, and so fucking what, there are satelites in the sky

Smart grid by GE gets a contract from the government to fix this problem. GE, who owns NBC, who helped obama get into power. Sounds like corruption to me.

Thank You for bringing this matter into the general public’s attention. I hope larger media sources can investiage this and cause a demand for restructuring & securing our internet and cable infrastructure.
Good Luck on spreading the word!

I live in Oregon. This particular outage impacted my work on that day. I telecommute via those cables to equipment in the bay area. I was unable to access those machines to do any work, and or send/receive email to the company.

we have to stop it? don’t you know that the government could fix many issues but doesn’t because chaos is big brother’s advantage. the more chaos in the country, the more big brother can say “see, i told you so. now let me protect you…..at a cost.” we have no power. not because we are powerless, but because we are uneducated, unorganized, and brainwashed. call me a conspiracy theorist. ask yourself, how organized are we to change anything? we have no power.

Employees, Engineers, Managers, and Contractors (galore) from several companies all have the knowledge necessary to pull this off. But what if it was one of the corporations that did it? Sure there’s been finger pointing, mentioning of the Union, and a possible strike. But why would an employee cut the lines before a strike? It would cause more of an impact during a work stoppage than before one. Even so they would have to be crazy to do something like this. Risk jail time for a fair contract?

I have VERIZON fiber optic cable put in and the copper line was severed. So they have complete control of my telephone and high speed Internet.

I disagree, Comcast is a very bad company that sells overpriced media and delivers shitty services. I swear My internet and Cable tv go out atleast once a month and it takes comcast 2 or 3 days to do something about it. And I live in a major market, Chicago!

Zennie i have a funky feeling the culprits have to be working for the telephone company or cable company. How would they know where to cut and did they get permission from the city before digging and cutting? The city wasn’t able to pinpoint where the cuts were? At one time did these incidents occur.
