I think a case can be made that “the most serious thing that has happened in the history of the United States” was the creation of the Federal Reserve and its hijacking of the currency without which the military industrial complex would be impossible.

Why should we attempt to cool the planet? Why should we interfere in the cycles of nature?
This is the problem with our human society: we always wish to control things and interfere into nature. Nature, and the cycles in it, did pretty well before we came to Earth, and it will do wonderfully well at present if we do not interfere with it currently with pollutants and destruction.
I think the priority for us as a society is to live in harmony with nature, regardless if we die or not.
