what makes Americans think they have more freedom?

Question by Wolf reborn: what makes Americans think they have more freedom?
I have visited Finland more than once in my life i have also visited a few other nations as well and I’ve realized that although they don’t have a bill of rights saying they have the same rights as Americans more often than not they have more freedoms, I am now becoming a legal citizen of Finland or rather I’m becoming a full citizen(i have no idea whether i ever had dual citizenship or not) and I enjoy many of the same freedoms as any american plus many more.

where do Americans get the idea that they have the most freedom?

Great! Congratulations! I guess that means you’re moving there, too? It’s nice to see people believe something and then act on it. Most just whine and do nothing.

The thing is about Finland, which appears to have just as many if not more freedoms than the States, is that in times of crisis, there is no Bill of Rights that protect the citizens from the government. Therefore, the government of Finland can arrest you from speaking out against them whenever it decides to, for example. That can’t happen in the States. It’s not what a government does in times of normalcy that matters; it’s what a government does or can do in times of crisis that the test. I hope you don’t have to experience that.

most don’t realize this, they much rather make fools of themselves without actually doing the research.

good luck is a great example of this.

That’s because most Americans have never traveled to other countries, and if they did most didn’t bother to get acquainted with the culture of the nation they were visiting. Denmark [where my family is from and some still live] also has a lot of the same freedoms Americans hold dear, yet for some reason Americans don’t realize it, they think we [Americans] have a monopoly on such things as freedom of speech. Add to that in Denmark, the separation of church and state is more clear, it’s a secular nation and one of the happiest in the world.

From being brainwashed from birth about how America is the greatest country “of the free and the brave”, and how all other countries are either backward or terrorist.
I’m oversimplifying, but that’s how some people think.
