You can ask for it, but they do not have to provide every detail.

The freedom of Information helps citizens to know what is being done by bureaucrats on the works they have been entrusted.
For example, if apply for a passport and if I do not get it in time and do not satisfactory reply to my queries, I can use right to information to know what they have done till now.
This will make them to do the right thing.
