  • Homeland security ensures our national security.

  • National security covers threats to the nation from outside the Continental US and homeland security covers threats happening on US soil. So Al Qiada operating in Iraq or Afghanistan would be considered a threat to “National Security” where a terrorist attack on the white house would fall under “Homeland Security”
