Freedom Interactive Reorganizes to Strengthen Local News and Content Resources: Bret Jacomet and Steve Witkos Named Senior Regional Directors











IRVINE, Calif. (PRWEB) April 24, 2007

    Witkos and Jacomet will facilitate cross-functional partnerships between Freedom’s local media businesses and Freedom Interactive to develop, innovate and improve interactive content. They will be responsible for leveraging local Freedom talent and creating interactive products and services that can be deployed across the organization, serving local, regional and national communities of interest.

Most recently, Witkos served as director of EmeraldCoast.com, a web site portal based in Destin, Florida, for five years. EmeraldCoast.com supports the interactive strategy for the ten Freedom properties in Florida. He is a member of the Senior Leadership Team for the region, working to increase the revenue and audience in this market. Witkos joined Freedom as a Web developer for Destin.com.

“I am excited about the opportunities of this expanded role. The pace of growth in Freedom around interactive is very swift,” said Witkos. “I look forward to being a liaison with Freedom Interactive and the local properties, bringing great national products to the customers we serve.”

Jacomet joined Freedom in 2002 and has been director of new media for the company’s Lima News operation in Lima, OH. Prior to joining Freedom, Jacomet was a stockbroker, president of an electronic scoreboard company and an online entrepreneur. He is a member of Southern Newspapers Publishers Association’s New Media Task Force and a member of the Newspaper Association of America’s New Media Federation. He served as a member of Freedom Communication’s New Business Development Corporate Team, contributed to the Shelby Innovation Project and served as a team leader on Freedom’s Interactive Innovation Project.

“It’s great to join a very talented and creative team at Freedom Interactive,” Jacomet said. “I’m looking forward to the challenge of the new position in meeting Freedom’s corporate vision and supporting the local businesses.”
