  • The amendment process is used to change the constitution. The change is the amendment. It rarely happens.

  • An amendment is where they add things to the constitution, or change the constitution.

    For example, when the constitution was written, there was nothing giving the people freedom of speech, religion, etc. So they made the 1st amendment, which added to the constitution freedom of speech, religion etc.

For example, prohibition was a constitutional amendment that baned the use, manufacture, importation or consumption of alcohol. It require another amendment to repeal that amendment.
