TIME Magazine’s Abject Failure

In the July 4th edition (ironically) of TIME Magazine, Managing Editor Richard Stengel penned one of the most incompetent pieces (found here: www.time.com on the Constitution that I have ever had the displeasure to read. His mistakes ranged from basic factual errors that could have been fact-checked with an internet search, to broad and sweeping misinterpretations of entire portions of the Constitution. The video I am posting is a brief refutation of these problems. For further reading, please consult TomWoods.com, Tom Woods’s book Nullification, and Kevin C. Gutzman’s book The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution.

Rules: 1 – Must be a subscriber – New subscribers welcome to enter 2 – Must be a legal US or Canada resident. Canadians may discuss the Canadian constitution if they prefer. 3 – Contest ends July 2, 2011 at 11:59 PM EDT 4 – Video entries must be posted as a video response to this video 5 – In a video response, discuss anything you wish about the US constitution. Examples: Read a portion of the constitution aloud, comment about your favorite part of the constitution, or discuss historical facts about the constitution. 6 – You will receive 1 entry for each minute of video in your response, up to a maximum of 15 entries. (A 3 minute video response gets 3 entries, while a 10 minute video response gets 10 entries) 7 – The entire length of the video must be about the designated topic. Videos with “artificially” extended run time will be disqualified. (example: Don’t play a 3 minute song in the video to get the 3 extra entries, unless you wrote and performed the song yourself and the song is about the constitution) 8 – The contest ends July 2nd. That date is significant to this nation. If you can tell, in your own words (don’t quote wikipedia), what the significance of that date is, in your video response, you will be given one extra entry. 9 – Since a part of the prize is related to firearms, you must be 18 years old to enter. If you are under 18 years old, a parent must be in the video stating that they are willing to be named as the winner, and they can give the prize to you

  • @3434arc1 I checked it out. It’s pretty good but he basically just said the same stuff I did. Google “Patterico’s Pontifications Thirteen Clear, Factual Errors in Richard Stengel’s Essay on the Constitution.” That essayist, in addition to the thirteen errors, wrote an essay much lengthier, but rightly castigating Stengel.

  • Just google “Time magazine’s Constitutional baby babble” for a superb point by point article revealing Stengel’s ignorance.

@Carrie3570 Awesome! I hope it doesn’t crash. Quite a few people are going to see your video and it’s good for our nation’s soul every time someone reads the constitution aloud for others to hear. I’ve got my fingers crossed for ya

  • I think I might have went overboard, I read all the amendments and it’s almost 30 mins long. Right now it looks like it will take 210 minutes to upload. I hope it doesn’t crash… If it does, I might just do the first 10 amendments.

Yes , the majority of us do not have a camera , Please think about Us Poor Slobs

  • @ncrdisabled I left out that you must click the file button at the top and go down to save movie file BEFORE you click on save to my computer.

  • @ncrdisabled Use Windows Movie Maker to make one. Just open it up click on upload pictures, move pictures to the bar line below, open up a free version of Audacity, record a mp3 of you talking about your choice of topic about the Constitution, save it to desktop. Go back to Windows Movie Maker, click on upload mp3, then click on Save to my computer. Then you are all set to upload onto your you tube channel. If you have any questions just pm me 🙂

@SolitarySoldiers I just checked the shipping costs on Canada, and the costs are more reasonable than I had expected, so yes, Canadians are welcome to enter.
