  • rexStuartus, the Lib Dems didn’t have enough votes to stop the invasion of Iraq. But they all saw the point in showing up to vote against it!

  • Having freedom of information does not mean that I must take on board ranting like yours.

    …What?

  • The old bible in my hands is powerful from god’s power in the judgement of the living and the dead. When the power knew i was clean it showed me afganistan this happened 1995. Well this bible is placed in Northampton the soldiers have not liberated me but Jesus Christ will. This is freedom of information.

  • The Lib Dems don’t, unfortunately, have enough votes. In any case, it’s not possible to cover every eventuality, and politicians do have other duties.

As for a “three-line whip”, that’s hardly liberal, is it? This is a matter of conscience.

Anyway, I gather that the massive Lib Dem campaign against this assault on FoI appears to have been successful: the Lords haven’t touched it.

    I see

  • Sadly, after ten years of being in government, Labour seem less committed to openness than they were in opposition and when newly-elected.

I got a question for Ming Campbell, Well if Labour and Conservatives wanted to exempt themselves from FoI Act, when Labour came to power in 1997 they pass FoI Act so why did they vote for FoI Act in the first place instead of dropping FoI Act from their policies?

  • As a lib dem member i have to agree with your assessment. If the Lib Dem MPs were so opposed to this, why were they not all in Parliament “just in case” to ensure we once again offered a united front in the no lobbies?

  • Oh shut up! a) Why did you not vote against the bill last Friday? Was being in Scotland more important! b) Why did you not impose a three-line whip on all your MPs and order them to vote against the bill last week, instead you gave them a free vote.
